Dedicated to the Trumpeter Ludovic Vaillant soloist at the National Orchestra the Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra was premiered in Paris in 1949. The first part which lasts 7 minutes Allegro and Cadenza begins with a Trumpet cadenza and a quiet Snare Drum background. The Nocturne follows as the second part of this Concerto by Tomasi and the Finale the shortest part of the concerto ends up with a cheerful cartoon-music theme. This book is thepocket version. Henri Tomasi was a French composer conductor and winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1927. He also composed a variety of concerti for Alto Saxophone and for Trombone as well as some ballades.

Pour Trompette Et Piano- The Trumpet's powers of expression are not limited to the pompous accents and ringing tones of the Triumphal March of Verdi's Aida. To all doubters we strongly recommend opening Volume 2 of Mélodies Et Pièces Diverses by Gabriel Fauré transcribed for Trumpet and Piano by internationally acclaimed soloist Guy Touvron. In this volume gentleness and expressiveness prevail. With its slow tempo and dolce opening indication the well-known melody Après un rêve floats a legato song that goes straight to the heart as does Tristesse with its fluid subtle melodic gesture. While Le Papillon et la Fleur still bow to the aesthetics of the romance the Absent (also based on Hugo's verse) erects a vast dramatic narrative with very simple means. Au Cimetière completes this selection of melodies that is enhanced by two originally instrumental pieces the Berceuse Op. 16 for Violin and Piano and the Romance sans paroles No. 3 for Piano. Faithful to the Faurian spirit as defined by Jankelevitch these transcriptions whisper into the ear of those who deserve to hear.

As the Saxophone is commonly associated with the jazz style classical music for the instrument had always been lacking. Therefore when Paul Bonneau (1918-1995) composed his Deux Caprices En Formed De Valse for Alto Saxophone and Piano it was well-received by performers of the genre. Bonneau 's composition was highly versatile ranging from over fifty film scores operettas songs and other pieces for Saxophone including a concerto. The Deux Caprices En Formed De Valse however were particularly acclaimed for their use of advanced techniques. The works contains typically French characteristicsincluding chromaticism and difficult technical passages. All these elements combined make for an enjoyable and challenging piece for saxophonists.

Selected Songs chosen by Francois Le Roux- Widely acclaimed by music lovers for over a century Selected Songs of Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) are here collected into an anthology complete with an audio version in the form of a download card. Excerpted from the 1st collection published in 1879 Au bord de l'eau and Ici bas bestow an aura of internal reverie on Sully Prudhomme's simple poems made palpable by the harmonic refinement and vocal fluidity that constitutes the very essence of Faurean charm. Several vocal pages selected in the 2nd volume (1897) continue to be favourites: Les Rosesd'Ispahan restored to their dreamy stillness Les Berceaux whose oscillation evokes the swaying of boats and the very nostalgic Clair de lune in which Verlaine's words set to music for the first time inspired Fauré to write what would become one of his masterpieces: La Bonne Chanson . From this cycle drunk on lovelorn lyricism the collection retains Puisque l'aube grandit an exalted melody if there ever was one and La lune blanche luit dans les bois a nocturnal landscape in F sharp major - two pearls that distil the same mystery of solace.

Musique de scène- An enchanted dream - these words from poet Charles Van Leberghe give an idea of the public's enthusiasm for the first English language performance on June 21 1898 of Maurice Maeterlinck's symbolist play. Staged at the Prince of Wales Theatre the play was translated by Jack W. Mackail with stage music composed by Gabriel Fauré. Occupied by various administrative tasks the composer asked his favourite student Charles Koechlin to orchestrate the score in May 1898. The London theatre's limited instrumental staff corresponded perfectly to the apprentice musician's ideals of clarity and transparency. Established by Roger Nichols and Otfrid Nies this trilingual edition (French - English - German) is based on signed manuscripts and distinguishes itself through a 60-page critical commentary that precisely retraces the birth of the work. The book presents for the first time the complete incidental music written for the London premiere of Pelléas et Mélisande with the aim of staying true to Koechlin's original annotated version. Koechlin's orchestration is equal to the work: a model of clarity and refinement.

Sonatinette is a wonderful work composed by Jacques Delacroix arranged for Flute and Piano. The piece lasts approximately 4 minutes 45 seconds and would be perfect as part of a performance or even simply to improve your Flute repertoire. For flautists looking for a brilliant addition to their repertoire Sonatinette is a melodically complex work that is as lovely to hear as it is exciting to play.
