This film was released at the end of the nineties and was a massive success in part thanks to the impressive cast. The performances of John Malkovitch Jeremy Irons Leonardo DiCaprio and Gerard Depardieu who played the main roles in the film were top-notch. In the meantime our own arranger Willy Fransen has become a real specialist in adapting motion picture soundtracks and musicals. This is an example of an excellent arrangement which he based on the film�s outstanding music.

Surfin’ USA I get Around Barbara-Ann Good Vibrations-In 1961 the three Beach Boys brothers Brian Dennis and Carl went straight to the top of the charts with their first single called Surfin�. By 1966 the Beach Boys were even more popular that The Beatles thanks to the single Good Vibrations. Juri Briat has made an excellent medley of the songs Surfin USA I Get Around Barbara-Ann and last but not least Good Vibrations.

Astor Piazzolla with his bandoneon is not only the undisputed master of the Argentine tango but also an exceptional exponent of southern music in general. He is the inspiration of many artists and composers and has performed with world-music formations as well as stars from the world of classical music. Oblivion is a slow and melancholic piece that can be played with or without the accordion depending on your requirements. We recommend this arrangement if you are looking for something different.

This great number by the young artist Sven Van Calster was composed for the Antwerp-based trumpet band Blazerensemble - Deurne (B) especially for the recording of their CD.This refreshing and fairly simple but dynamic music was written for several instruments and can therefore be played by practically any formation. Horizons is inspired by the many journeys that the trumpet band has made. Listen to this work and expand your horizon.

Aurora Borealis more popularly known as the Northern Lights was a source of superstition in the Middle Ages. This dazzling spectacle which is accompanied by whispering sounds put the fear of God into those who didn’t know that this was simply one of nature’s grand shows. Many heathen attributed the phenomenon to the incomprehensible ways of the gods. Today we know better. Every 11 years the amount of particles emitted by the sun is at its highest level as is the case this year. These particles are hurled away from the sun beyond its magnetic field. A small percentage of these particles are able to penetrate the earth’s atmosphere. Once they are here they begin tocollide and form the beautiful patterns in the night sky which we call the Aurora Borealis.

In 1962 this song remained in the international charts for many weeks. It�s a classic that has survived the times and it is still a great singsong today. This simple arrangement by Sven Van Calster with a transparent choice of instruments can be performed by small and large associations alike.

Sven Van Calster composed this work after he visited this city in the Czech Republic. A solemn fanfare is followed by a brilliant allegro with a heavy beat. A slow section in ballade style precedes a reprise of the introduction and then an extravagant finale follows. This is an ideal piece for a concert or a competition.

Camille Saint-Saëns is especially known for his composition ‘Carnaval des Animaux’ and his organ symhony. ‘Marche Militaire’ however is an almost unknown but remarkable masterpiece. An excellent work arranged by Georges Moreau.
