A song cycle for mezzo-soprano baritone and piano four-hands. The title comes from a statment by President Eisenhower to the composer after a White House performance: 'I like music with a theme not all those arias and barcarolles.' Here is a piece making use of an eccletic mix of styles around the theme love.

KV 581-This arrangement by Derek Hyde is a reduction for B flat Clarinet and Piano accompaniment. The original full ensemble is one of Mozart's popular Quintet compositions.

The main body of this work consists of an extended invocation in the style of a polychoral motet based on an anonymous Latin text and ending with a plea for peace. This is preceded by a briefer introductory section based on passages from the Old Testament in which the horrors of violence and oppression are described. This section features the use of several extra-musical effects (whispering hissing finger- and tongue-clicks foot-stamping and indeterminate clusters) most of which form part of the South African choral tradition.SSSSAAAA. These tributes were known as planxties. Planxty Kelly celebrates that tradition. Written in response to the tremendous generosity of her community Planxty Kelly is a tribute to a young woman whose all too brief life touched family friends teachers and fellow musicians in countless and memorable ways. Traditional Irish tunes have been arranged to honour Kelly's Irish-American heritage and love of both singing and dancing. As President of Juilliard William Schuman requested a major piece from his close friend in celebration of the school's fiftieth anniversary. Copland thought the Juilliard anniversary an ideal occasion for the premiere of Piano Fantasy which he was composing in honour of William Kapell. Copland admitted that it was difficult to write particularly the fast sections. He explained My purpose was to suggest the quality of fantasy a spontaneous and unpremeditated sequence of events that would carry the listener along while at he same time exemplify clear if somewhat unconventional structural principles. Although the work was not ready by the date for which it wascommissioned Schuman arranged a special concert for the premiere by the pianist William Masselos. Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No.2 accurately and beautifully arranged for 2 Pianos. Composed in 1957 the premiere was given on 10th May in the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatoire conducted by Nikolai Ansonov. The piece is dedicated to and was first played by Dmitri's son Maxim Shostakovich. This is an abridged version for two Pianos.
