Welsh composer Karl Jenkins dedicated his landmark mass The Armed Man to the victims of the 1998-1999 war in Kosovo. More recently it is been associated with remembrances of 9/11. The French Renaissance song L'homme armé serves as the basis for the first movement of the mass beautifully adapted here for standard concert band instrumentation. With its relentless pulse and haunting strains this is a dramatically emotional and riveting work!

Suite from the film music-This is the Pocket or Study Score for Aaron Copland's The Red Pony which was written in 1948 for the film of the same name.

An incredible addition to the upper level band repertoire! A pointillist mixed-meter opener grabs your attention followed by urgent ensemble rhythmic motifs percussive excitement surprising horn tremolos and thrilling brass and woodwind interplay. An extended dreamlike second movement features rich unison chalumeau clarinets and brass chorales that fade in and out much like sunlight on a crystal prism or reflection pool. The final movement is filled with rapid low brass passage work contrasted by exotic clarinet flute and oboe solos over full ensemble staccato punches. Dramatic and lyrical by turns this work displays Rachmaninov's keyboard characteristics: intense Russian flavor rich and bold sonorities compelling rhythmic drive and brilliant virtuosity. Rachmaninov shows here a very fine grasp of the medium of two pianos his haunting sense of melody and his richly harmonic and rhythmic foundation. Altogether it ranks as a very important contribution to two-piano literature. Arranged for 2 Pianos 4 Hands this edition includes two complete copies of the work.

This Concerto was commissioned by C.E.M.A. for the Festival of Britain and was first performed on 22nd June 1951 by the Composer and the City of Belfast Orchestra. This is a reduction of the Concerto for 2 Pianos.

Franz Reizenstein's Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano is included as part of the 2018 - 2021 ABRSM Clarinet syllabus. This work is a rewarding addition to the advanced Clarinettists repertoire.
