Yamamoto Perpetuo was written by Michael Nyman for solo Violin in 1993 to a commission by fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto for his show that year in Paris. Following its success Nyman added a second Violin Viola and Celloto the solo line and turned it into his String Quartet No.4 . This arrangement by Andy Findon for solo Flute restores the work as a stand-alone piece for one player in eleven sections drawing additionally upon material fromthe quartet version.

Irish composer Kevin Volans' work has gained international acclaim over the years. Drawing on a combination of European and African compositional techniques his music displays a unique charm. Volans' distinctive sound is heavilyin demand and since the mid-1980s his work has been performed regularly at such venues as the Pompidou Centre the Royal Albert Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York. This work for string quartet was commissioned by theShobana Jeyasingh Dance Company and was first performed on the 16th December 1990 at the Almeida Theatre London by the Smith Quartet. Set of parts. A violinist and gifted mathematician 20-year-old Hodder had been atPembroke College Cambridge and the title derives from the pleasure he used to get when finding unexpected connections between seemingly unconnected things. For piano trio and vibraphone the work was written for Hodder’s parents Monroe and Fred .
