Commissioned by Austria s leading brass band Brass Band Oberoesterreich Titan s Progress is a series of descriptive virtuoso episodes based on the principal character of the novel by Jean Paul. This was also the original subject of Mahler s Symphony No. 1 from which Hermann Pallhuber derives much of his material. The work has proved an exceptionally popular test piece all over the world. Titan's Progress was the selected test piece for the British Open Brass Band Championship held at Symphony Hall Birmingham on Saturday 12th September 2009. This piece is in the Baroque 'Concerto Grosso' style. The idea of The Violinists of the Pieta sprang from the tradition of the Venetian Ospedale della Pieta the orphanage that housed some of the finest musicians in Europe. The piece is in three movements with music in the style of Monteverdi and Vivaldi. It tells a story of the orphans’ lives as they grow up in the jostling city eventually finding freedom through their musical abilities.

The Tuba Concerto was composed in 1953/4 after the London Symphony Orchestra invited Vaughan Williams to write a work for inclusion in the Orchestra's fiftieth anniversary concert. The first performance was given by Philip Catelinet in the Royal Festival Hall London on 13th June 1954 with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir John Barbirolli. The brass band arrangement is by Phillip Littlemore and is a welcome addition to the brass band repertoire.
