This overture is about the only work by Hamish MacCunn which is still performed although he wrote operas vocal choral and instrumental music as well as other orchestral works. It has a distinctly Scottish flavour and was used as the theme music to the BBC television series 'Sutherland's Law' back in the 1970s.

Canadian composer Clifford Crawley 's 1990 song We Can Make a Difference for unison Voice and Piano accompaniment. Published as part of the Leslie Choral Series. Set on Grade 1 of the ABRSM Singing Exams from 2009. Affiliated with the Canadian League of Composers and the Canadian Music Centre Crawley has over eighty published compositions including a number in festival and conservatory lists. His musical style has been described as 'warmly human' 'contemporary (but) accessible and eclectic'. Eclecticism is consistent with his belief that 'originality is not necessarily something newbut often (the result of) looking at the familiar in a different way”.
