We find ourselves initially at the court of King Nobel where all the animals have arrived for a court hearing. Reynard the Fox has plenty to answer for but he seems determined to avoid his punishment... Kevin Houben chose this fable as the theme for his programmatic work in which the musical setting of the fox forms the main theme. But King Nobel Braun the bear Murner the cat and Grimbart the badger also take a musical turn. About Reynard the Fox promises excitement and adventure right to the last note!

Rhapsody is not a programmatic work but one that spontaneously turns into a natural musical journey. André Waignein showcases and explores both the technical prowess and the expressive nature of the saxophone. The three movements take the soloist from a virtuosic arabesque to a lyrical and expressive theme before jumping back into a lively tarantella. after Gregorio Allegri's Miserere-In The Lost Labyrinth Kevin Houben portrays the persistent search for an ancient Egyptian mortuary temple. In this work the theme from Gregorio Allegri’s moving Miserere becomes a leitmotif for the archeologists’ quest and given acontemporary transformation brings the Ancient and Modern together.

He did so to test whether his guests were omniscient. As a punishment Zeus sent Tantalus to Tartarus the deepest part of the underworld to suffer everlasting torture. The term ‘torment of Tantalus' refers to this predicament representing things much desired but that are out of reach. Kevin Houben used the story of Tantalus as inspiration for this composition.

March of the Marmots describes the comical creatures that emerge from their winter slumber at _x001F_first soft and hesitant then stridently march from their burrows into the sunlight. This piece is a nice challenge for any ensemble as every part is equally fun and educational. Enjoy!

Concert suite from the musical Gelmel het land van mijn dromen- A Viking’s Tale tells the story of Gelmel the watchman of a Northern king. It is a suite distilled from Kevin Houben’s large musical spectacle Gelmel containing the most beautiful themes and interesting passages. As in all legends andfairytales various elements including war love princesses and fortresses occur. Beautifully orchestrated for a medium sized band. Let the tale begin!

paso doble- Delicia has all the ingredients for an authentic paso doble. The trademark presence of both major and minor keys and flowing often melancholic melody lines in descant and tenor that build to a majestic conclusion serve to emphasize the character and guarantee an atmospheric musical experience.

Dans DOGON Kevin Houben nous séduit par un voyage vers les pentes abruptes de la vallée Dogon en Afrique de l’Ouest. Le peuple Dogon considère la vallée à la fois comme une menace et comme une promesse pour lavenir une dualité exprimée par deslignes mélodiques sombres. Après de mystérieux accords émerge un passage plus tempéré. Enfin trois solistes se font entendre (au cor à la trompette et au saxophone soprano) ils apportent une conclusion colorée et vivifiante rappelant lesspectaculaires danses masquées des Dogons.

Hippo Hop is a fun piece for young and old alike. Hippo the hippopotamus is in the mood for a dance but can he actually do it? “The proof of the pudding is in the eating!” he says to himself as he strides over the African plains. The other animals look on admiringly as Hippo tries a little jump: hip hop… It’s going so well! A stirring melody line is played throughout the entire concert band with every part playable yet challenging.

This legend takes us back to the middle of the 18th century in Belgium. The young Léandre is a little boy who lives in the hilly region of western Hainaut. He contributes to the building of a wall surrounding the city intended to resist potential attacks from outside.

The Dark Angel- Abaddon was commissioned by the NLBB (Noord-Limburgse Brassband – North Limburg Brass Band) from Belgium. Abaddon is the demon reigning over the underworld. In the New Testament – in the Book of Revelation by John (9:11) – he is calledthe angel of the bottomless pit. The work Abaddon lives up to its name. Technically and physically it holds an enormous challenge for every band in the champions division. The composition has a traditional form structure (fast–slow–fast) and it consists of ornamentationsaround the letters IVAN after Ivan Meylemans the conductor who since 2001 has obtained great successes with the NLBB and who in this case has also been essential in taming the demon in Abaddon .

Tonight the sea will be awash with pink! Flamingos from everywhere are flying in for a rockin’ party. Their long legs prance around to the beat circling each other as their beaks chatter all night long. Who else wants to go to the Flamingo Rock? Kevin Houben’s new composition is full of little rhythmic and harmonic challenges perfect for bands both young and old. But beware once you start playing the tune you just might not be able to stop!

Each of the four movements shows an aspect of military life- the precision of a military parade the splendour of the officers' ball the sadness of remembering those who have lost their lives and thehope that someday there will be peace throughout the world. This trulycompelling work will make a great addition to any concert.

Félicien Doyen the President of the Tornacum Royal Choir Circle of Tournai (Belgium) and a close friend of the composer commissioned this Mass. Missa Tornacum was originally composed for mixed choir and organ gave a memorable performance of thepiece in the Chartres Cathedral in France.Although it does not include the Credo the work is composed according to the traditional structure of a Mass in five parts : Kyrie Gloria Sanctus Agnus Dei and Ite missa est. En the first two parts adialogue is created between the choir and the band. It is followed by the Sanctus cycle (Sanctus - Hosanna - Benedictus) which is remarkable for the contrasts between the tone colorscharacterizing each of its three parts. The fourth part Agnus Dei takes on a tone of serene intimacy. A free counterpoint draws this section to a close by fading into an almost imperceptible quietness. Ite missa est begins with a series of imitations which develop into a majestic and cheerful passagemarking the end of the Mass. Choir parts are available separately.
