Missa B-flat Major Hob.XXII:14 'Harmony Mass' Urtext from: Joseph Haydn Werke It is well known that Joseph Haydn wrote his late masses to the commission of his last employer Prince Nicolaus II Esterhazy. The 'Harmoniemesse' is the last of these high masses all of which probably received their first performances in celebration of the name-day of Princess Maria Josepha Hermenegild the prince's wife. The present work was given for the first time on 8 September 1802 in the Bergkirche at Eisenstadt Haydn himself conducting. Haydn entitled his work simply 'Missa'. The work has acquired the name 'Harmoniemesse' by reasonof the prominent parts given to the wind instruments ('Harmonie' being a contemporary name for a wind band); the nickname did not become established until the late nineteenth century. Full score and parts (BA4659) vocal score (BA4659-90) and study score format 22.5 x 16.5cm (TP97) available for sale.

I Shall Love But Thee is an occasional work in the literal sense of the word since it was originally written on the occasion of the composer’s youngest son’s wedding. The texts by William Shakespeare inspired Jan Van der Roost to compose profound and appealing music largely in the style of Henry Purcell (in the first part) and Georg Friedrich Handel (in the second part)—although no literal quotations have been used. The rather rare combination of soprano and fanfare band makes this piece a unique addition to the repertoire!

for Flute Oboe Violin Violoncello and Basso continuo- If Telemann was regarded by his contemporaries as one of the greatest of all composers his star faced with the overwhelming presence of Bach and Handel paled in the course of the 19th century to the verge of contempt. This assessment changed radically during the course of the last century. Through the systematic exploration of his music Telemann once considered purely an instrumental composer has emerged into a highly cultivated culturally well-connected and enormously versatile artistic personality who left an indelible mark on the musical life of his time. Again and again we discover an individual approach in his works that seems to abandon the musical conventionsof his day both large and small. The Tafelmusik (Musique de Table) is a collection of chamber pieces for various ensembles arranged into 3 parts and is perhaps Telemann's most celebrated collection of music. Composed in 1733 the Tafelmusik clearly demonstrates Telemann's skill in handling a diversity of musical genres and a variety of instruments. - Urtext of the Telemann Edition

Nicolai Mass- The name of the “Missa Sancti Nicolai” refers to the composition of the Mass for St. Nicholas Day in 1772. Every year on this day a Mass was held in honor of the Prince of Esterházy who shared his name-day with St. Nicholas. It is thought that Haydn wrote this composition specifically to thank the Prince for allowing him to return to Eisenstadt. Some years later trumpet and timpani parts were added to the work. As with the “Great Organ Mass” these additional parts were not actually written by Haydn himself but simply authorized by him. They are included in the score and performance material so that both versions can be performed. Urtextfrom the Haydn Complete Edition Performable in both versions Full score performance material (BA4645) vocal score (BA4645-90) available for sale

Haydn's Symphony No.8 is the final piece in his triptych on the times of the day consisting of the symphonies Le Matin Le Midi and Le Soir (Hoboken I:6-8). The cycle originated in 1761 on a commission from Haydn's patron Prince Anton Esterházy. Whether the Prince was hoping for a counterpart to Vivaldi's famous concertos on the four seasons or pursued a different idea can no longer be determined. It was doubtless the purpose of these concertante symphonies to present to a select audience the Prince's chamber ensemble which had been assembled or expanded that spring as well as its new conductor. The pieces are laid out on a large scale full of pomp andsplendour and the scoring at times divided into thirteen separate parts offers virtually every player an opportunity to display his prowess as a soloist. At that time the Esterházy ensemble was made up of six or seven players of the violin or viola (the seventh was actually retained as a flautist) one player each of the violoncello and violone two oboists doubling on flute two horn players and a bassoonist. This listing includes Haydn himself who conducted the ensemble from the first violinist's desk. Contrary to a widely held belief there was no harpsichord. Indeed the only genres that employed a keyboard instrument at that time in the Viennese area were vocal - namely operas cantatas and church music. For Orchestra With Solo Clarinet In B-Flat- Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie is one of two concertante works completed premiered and published during his lifetime. He was commissioned to write it in 1909 for the final examination at the Paris Conservatoire in 1910. Debussy orchestrated it in the summer of 1911. While transferring the clarinet part from the already published version for clarinet and piano he made a few subtle changes particularly in m. 201 which has been a bone of contention among clarinettists for over a century. The present scholarly-critical publication is the first Urtext edition of the orchestral version. It draws on every known source and takes into account a previously ignored source that shedsnew light on the piece. First Urtext edition of the orchestral version First scholarly-critical edition of a pioneering work for clarinet Trilingual Foreword (Eng/Fr/Ger) with Critical Commentary (Eng)
