Exploiting the Flute to its full potential Fantaisie Italienne is an exciting and challenging addition to the advanced flautist's repertoire. From cadenza passages to a delightful 6/8 melody this piece by French composer Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) covers a huge variety of the Flute's possibilities. The piece begins with an emotional characterised cadenza covering a wide range. This leads dramatically into a 6/8 section accompanied by broken chords in the piano before ending with a quirky and lively 2/4 secton. Bozza 's Fantaisie Italienne for Flute and Piano is not only symbolic but also includes exciting challenges making for an imperative performance piece in the Flute repertoire.

Belgian composer Marcel Poot (1901-1988) was a professional composer professor and musician. He studied at the Belgian Conservatory and went on to attain success as an Organist and composer. His substantial compositions for wind and brass are still performed to this day Légende for Horn in F and Piano being no exception. In 1925 Poot and several of his contemporaries founded 'The Synthetists' a group to rival 'Les Six' in France. They wished to inject dynamism into the conservative Belgian music scene through the composition of modern pieces. Légende for Horn andPiano reflects this whilst maintaining recognisable musical elements. Poot 's Légende published in 1958 is in Ternary Form ending with a fat allegro coda. For intermediate to advanced Horn players Poot 's Légende is an exciting addition to the repertoire.

Bohuslav Martinu (1890-1959) was a prolific Czech composer writing many large scale works. The composer moved to Paris in 1923 where he began experimenting in a variety of composition styles. Sonatine for Trumpet and Piano was composed in 1957 and is adaptable to both the B flat and C Trumpet. Martinu himself was a violinist but he liked to experiment and the mid-1950s saw him move to Nice in France where he began writing Sonatas for wind and brass. Sonatine for Trumpet exemplifies the composer's influence of Stravinsky Debussy and jazz music. The piece is excitingly virtuosic in its use of flutter tonguing complex rhythms chromaticism and ensemble between the Trumpet andPiano. As a varied substantial work for the Trumpet repertoire Martinu 's Sonatine is essential to the advanced trumpeter. Having won many prizes at the Paris Conservatoire during the 1920s-1930s Eugène Bozza went on to conduct the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and to become Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. As a major figure on the classical music frontline Bozza 's compositions were well-received by audiences Récit Sicilienne and Rondo for Bassoon and Piano being no exception. This Bozza piece for Bassoon is expressive and virtuosic displaying the entire range of the instrument accompanied by rhythmic quavers and spread chords in the Piano. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza 's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.' Récit Sicilienne and Rondo for Bassoon and Piano is a highly suitable and exciting addition to the advanced bassoonist's repertoire.
