As performed by The Corrs-The Corrs are a well-known contemporary Irish band. They take Irish folk tunes and dress them up with pop rock and Celtic influences. They also use a mix of contemporary and traditional instruments to create interesting sounds. Lough Erin Shore is one of their biggest hits to date and can become one of yours as well!

Overture Marziale-The name Aldacum (alder wood) dates from the period of the Roman occupation and is the Latin name of the brewing town Alken in the Belgian province of Limburg. The Koninklijke Harmonie Sint-Aloysius of Alken commissioned this concert march; the occasion was the 100th anniversary of the concert band. Aldacum is stylistically reminiscent of John Williams’ film scores and will surely also appeal to a wide audience.

Reiner Lüghausen composed this march in the early Seventies and it has never before been published. He gave the work this title because he actually comes from the valley of the same name in Germany. The most important sources of inspiration were the typical American military marches the undertones of which you will certainly recognise.

Juri Briat has made a daring arrangement of this spectacular film score. Through his skilful instrumentation the sound of this work closely resembles that of the original version for a symphony orchestra. In this arrangement Juri Briat has combined dazzling brass passages with virtuoso woodwinds and saxophones. A challenge for any band with ambition.

Duke Ellington (1889- 1974) was a very successful American pianist conductor composer and arranger. His orchestra existed for decades and was able to survive thanks to the enormous hits that he and his collaborators wrote. Many of those songs now belong to the standard repertoire of jazz musicians.Billy Strayhorn (1915-1967) was arranger and composer with the orchestra from 1939 and also wrote Take the A-Train which became the band’s favourite song from 1941. Many recordings were made of it. Juan Tizol (1900-1984 valve trombone) played with Duke Ellington almost his entire career and composed Latin songs for the orchestra. He is co-composer of Caravan and Perdido.Just likein the original Duke Ellington concerts the medley begins with Take the A-Train followed by a number of classics from the repertoire of the legendary orchestra. In some songs there are soloists notable a solo on kettledrums in C- Jam Blues. This solo can also be improvised.When rehearsing a lot of attention has to be paid to the drum and bass which together form the rhythm section and drive the orchestra on. The other sections have to be tight and create a coherent swing effect. The swing shouldn’t be too stiff and can vary per song. For example in In a Sentimental Mood the melody can be played almost straight (classically) while the rhythm section continues swinging.

It is a tradition that a concert must include a real classic march. Traditions are made to be kept. This is also true of our German neighbours. Reiner Lüghausen obtained his inspiration from the German march literature.

We Shall Rise Again-The terroristic attacks in Brussels Paris Nice and Berlin shocked many people and lead to fear distrust and disbelief. To express these emotions Bert Appermont composed the beautiful and sensitive In Memoriam . He used parts of the song Au Clair de la Lune as a symbolic reference to the innocence that was suppressed by these events. He combined this with a lyrical melody which expresses the hope for a better world. In Memoriam is a touching and reflective piece for a concert.

There’s nothing better on a sunny day than to take a turn on the Ferris wheel and look out at the splendid view from the dizzying heights. The composition Ferris Wheel Rock recreates this feeling and it’s arranged for a five-part flexible instrumentation that pays attention to articulation and the joy of playing. It’s perfect for a beginner concert band so take it for a spin!

Spanish Fantasy for Trumpet (Cornet / Flugel Horn) or Alto Sax and Band-El Cid was the name of the legendary knight and folk hero Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar Cameador the man who never lost a duel. After a typically Spanish opening a slower section follows in which the composer makes reference to Albinoni’s Adagio and to the slow movement from Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto d’Aranjuez . The music is whipped up with Spanish passion at the close and castanets are a must! The solo part can be played by trumpet flugelhorn cornet or alto saxophone and is also available in a simplified version.

With Rock Collection Etienne Crausaz offers a set of two original works and one arrangement: Rock Feel is a very lively piece with a lovely dialogue between the wind and percussion instruments; Go Down Moses is a rock arrangement of the well-known harmonically colourful Negro spiritual; and Music School Rock written in a minor key alternates a rhythmic motif and a quieter more tuneful melody. This collection of four-part pieces for ensembles with varied instrumentation is suitable for any wind band.

This composition sketches various images of a dreaming girl. Not only the beautiful sweet dreams but also the nightmares though with a happy ending.

Flex4 Band-The 1972 Deep Purple smash hit Smoke on the Water is probably one of the most iconic rock songs ever written. Based on a true story this track is still very popular across several generations even with the youngsters of today. This arrangement was specifically arranged for four-voiced flexible band in order to make it possible for young and beginning bands to enjoy the magic of Deep Purple.

Holiday Prelude is Belgian composer Hans Aerts‘ musical version of the feeling of anticipation one feels when looking forward to going on holiday. Holiday Prelude starts with a beautiful solemn melody that expresses joy and happiness. The second faster section has a dance-like character that keepsgathering momentum as it goes along.

This powerful and festive opening work features a heroic brass fanfare and a lyrical theme based on four descending notes. It is ideal to be programmed as an opener for your concert or as a ‘musical wakeup call’.

This three-part work was commissioned by Kunstfactor—the Dutch Institute for Amateur Art. Its purpose is to further the repertoire for solo percussionist and orchestral accompaniment—whether brass band fanfare orchestra or wind band. For a good performance the soloist should be well-versed in a variety of techniques and should have a good understanding of the instruments not only technically but also musically. In terms of the selection of instruments and also technique the first and second movement are more classical in style while the final movement—with a set-up of various so-called ‘untuned’ instruments—is more suited to contemporarysolo kit playing. These distinctions will become clear to the soloist while studying the piece. This splendid solo the aria O Mio Babbino Caro from Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi was arranged by Georges Moreau for Ben Haemhouts who for many years has been the principal euphonium with the Belgian band Brassband Midden Brabant. This solo is quite simple and is a real enrichment of the euphonium repertoire. Also for saxophone solos or horn solos.

Force a Superbe Mercy a Foible-This brilliant concert march was written to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of ‘Les Voltigeurs de Québec’. The title of the work refers to the emblem of this Canadian regiment in which both the cross and the crown are depicted. This piece aims above all to express the joy of this special anniversary. The melancholy trio section brings to mind more turbulent times and the trials and tribulations that the regiment has experienced at various points of its history.

In this dynamic composition Bert Appermont paints the history of the city of Copenhagen which was founded by Bishop Absalon in the 12th century. The rich thematic arrangement the colourful orchestration and the daring change of size give the work an original and compelling character. Particularly suitable for competitions or concerts.
