As performed by J. Geils Band-The ´J. Geils Band´ from Massachusetts in the USA played blues-rock in the 1970s but by the beginning of the 1980s had evolved their sound to a somewhat more pop style. And not without success: the album Freeze Frame sold by the million! The eponymous song Freeze Frame was the second single release from the album and has become an absolute favourite with audiences everywhere.

This work was written especially for the Belgian trombonist Ben Haemhouts and was created on Dec. 29 1998 in Ravels. Colors for trombone is a virtuous composition based on four colors Yellow Red Blue and Green. Each Color characterizes a typical musical quality. This masterpiece of Bert Appermont is undoubtedly a superb addition to the trombone repertoire!

This music sounds as if it came straight off the cinema screen. However there�s no movie for this fantastic score! Just like EVERY good film score this work also includes moving melodies fast virtuoso passages and last but not least a romantic love theme. The instrumentation takes into account that a group may not be complete and this means that the piece can be played by practically every orchestra. Highly recommended for concerts and competitions.

As written by Gerry Rafferty-Baker Street is a stop on the London underground also known as the Tube. Scottish guitarist Gerry Rafferty started his musical career deep underneath London’s streets busking at various stops. He finally made it big on the international scene with his song Baker Street. This hit also helped his album City to City sell over 4.5 million copies. Hans Thijssen has created an arrangement that captures the sounds of the subway and includes an optional solo for electric or bass guitar (also playable by the alto saxophone).

This refreshing lively composition by the Japanese composer Naoya Wada is an ideal opening work but it can equally provide a boost of energy later in your concert programme. Brilliant themes supported by virtuoso runs and energetic counter melodies ensure that each section including percussion is given a chance to shine.

Duke Ellington (1889- 1974) was a very successful American pianist conductor composer and arranger. His orchestra existed for decades and was able to survive thanks to the enormous hits that he and his collaborators wrote. Many of those songs now belong to the standard repertoire of jazz musicians.Billy Strayhorn (1915-1967) was arranger and composer with the orchestra from 1939 and also wrote Take the A-Train which became the band�s favourite song from 1941. Many recordings were made of it. Juan Tizol (1900-1984 valve trombone) played with Duke Ellington almost his entire career and composed Latin songs for the orchestra. He is co-composer of Caravan and Perdido.Justlike in the original Duke Ellington concerts the medley begins with Take the A-Train followed by a number of classics from the repertoire of the legendary orchestra. In some songs there are soloists notable a solo on kettledrums in C- Jam Blues. This solo can also be improvised.When rehearsing a lot of attention has to be paid to the drum and bass which together form the rhythm section and drive the orchestra on. The other sections have to be tight and create a coherent swing effect. The swing shouldn�t be too stiff and can vary per song. For example in In a Sentimental Mood the melody can be played almost straight (classically) while the rhythm section continues swinging.

With Rock Collection Etienne Crausaz offers a set of two original works and one arrangement: Rock Feel is a very lively piece with a lovely dialogue between the wind and percussion instruments; Go Down Moses is a rock arrangement of the well-known harmonically colourful Negro spiritual; and Music School Rock written in a minor key alternates a rhythmic motif and a quieter more tuneful melody. This collection of four-part pieces for ensembles with varied instrumentation is suitable for any wind band.

I'm still standing is another way of saying You haven't beaten me yet and is an ode to stamina. This world famous song by Elton John has been arranged by newcomer Sven Van Calster. The stirring rhythm and the infectious famous melody enable this piece to be played at any concert irrespective of the level of your orchestra. Always a topper!

The Turtle Dove is without a doubt one of the most well-known British folk songs right up there with the likes of Greensleeves or Drink to Me Only . The Turtle Dove has been skillfully arranged for concert band by Swisscomposer and arranger Etienne Crausaz carefully keeping the mood and intimacy of the original melody.

Overture for a Celebration- Jubilance was written to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Xinmin Senior School in Singapore. Appropriately for the occasion the composition is a festive virtuoso and dynamic opening work. The music of Benjamin Yeo is characterised by up-tempo melodies and widely scored dynamic contrasts. The ideal opener for your concert!

In this dynamic composition Bert Appermont paints the history of the city of Copenhagen which was founded by Bishop Absalon in the 12th century. The rich thematic arrangement the colourful orchestration and the daring change of size give the work an original and compelling character. Particularly suitable for competitions or concerts.

Force a Superbe Mercy a Foible-This brilliant concert march was written to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of ‘Les Voltigeurs de Québec’. The title of the work refers to the emblem of this Canadian regiment in which both the cross and the crown are depicted. This piece aims above all to express the joy of this special anniversary. The melancholy trio section brings to mind more turbulent times and the trials and tribulations that the regiment has experienced at various points of its history.

This splendid solo the aria O Mio Babbino Caro from Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi was arranged by Georges Moreau for Ben Haemhouts who for many years has been the principal euphonium with the Belgian band Brassband Midden Brabant. This solo is quite simple and is a real enrichment of the euphonium repertoire. Also for saxophone solos or horn solos.

The Round Table a project of the concert band Odyssey in Belgium was specially composed to present the various instrumental groups and separate instruments of the orchestra. With this sparkling composition you can familiarise the audience with the wealth of sounds and the strength of your ensemble. As an opening or concert piece.

This three-part work was commissioned by Kunstfactor—the Dutch Institute for Amateur Art. Its purpose is to further the repertoire for solo percussionist and orchestral accompaniment—whether brass band fanfare orchestra or wind band. For a good performance the soloist should be well-versed in a variety of techniques and should have a good understanding of the instruments not only technically but also musically. In terms of the selection of instruments and also technique the first and second movement are more classical in style while the final movement—with a set-up of various so-called ‘untuned’ instruments—is more suited to contemporarysolo kit playing. These distinctions will become clear to the soloist while studying the piece.
