Georges Moreau has produced a suite from the ballet music Spartacus . From this the world-famous Adagio is now available separately. This exquisite melody is sure to recall memories of the epic movie of the same name.

For this work the composer found inspiration in the magnificent orchestral ballads of pop stars such as Marco Borsato Celine Dion and Laura Fabian. The instrumentation permits the moving melodies of Ballata Per Te to be played by nearly every orchestra. A selection of minor and major scales are used.

This 3-part work begins with a martial and heroic theme where the brass and drums play an important role. A second melodic theme contrasts with the first although elements of the first theme remain clearly present and they in turn provide a link to the second calmer movement which is introduced with a splendid solo on the saxophone. You can hear fragments of the first part here too.In the third part the small drum begins to play the background theme and is followed by a grand group of brass instruments playing a heavy concert march which after an increase of tempo gradually ends in a grand finale which refers once again to the initial theme.

This spectacular three-part concerto (Contrasti Romanza and Fugato) for euphonium and grand brass-band orchestra by Bert Appermont was composed upon request by the Swiss euphonium virtuoso Ueli Kipfer who created it in November 2004 with the Schweizer Armee Spiel conducted by Jan Cober. The composer was inspired more by its mood than the analysis of works by Mahler and Rachmaninov. This concerto which is quite demanding for the soloist and a challenge for the orchestra is probably one of the most innovative works by Bert Appermont to date. For this impressive opening work by Menno Bosgra the composer uses a kind of brass band theme which is alternated with a solemn chorale. Both themes are orchestrated differently and each instrumental group takes turns playing. This makes the piece extremely colourful. At the end both themes are combined with each other. This is a dynamic opening work for your concerts!

This original work for rock guitar solo and orchestra by StefMinnebo is unique in its kind and is therefore a must if you like innovative concert programmes. Although this is a true solo work with ample scope for improvisation(ad libitum) for the soloist the orchestra has also been given a significant role that goes beyond mere accompaniment. The guitar section has been written out in tablature and in notes which makes it easier for the soloist. A challenging work not for the faint hearted!

Twinkling Tunes are two original Christmas songs written especially for children and which thanks to their flexible instrumentation can be played by any wind band. Lichtjes van Kerstmis (Christmas Lights) is about people gathering together around the Christmas tree. The Lied der Koningen (Song of Kings) brings the story of the Magi to life. The vocal part (with Dutch text) is optional and can be performed either solo or by a children’s choir but even without vocals this composition is sure to create a merry Christmas mood.

This traditional song is probably the most famous and most international of all Christmas carols. This gem from the classic Christmas repertoire takes us back to the roots and has been arranged in a transparent manner by Willy Fransen.

This overture was written in 2000 and pays homage to the composer Paul Hindemith. The composition is based on �Es sungen drei Engel. The song dates back to the 12th century and was originally a Christmas carol. Mahler used this melody in his 'Des Knaben Wunderhorn' and in the finale of his third symphony. Paul Hindemith also uses this melody as a chorale in the 'Engelkonzert' of his 'Mathis der Maler' symphony. This melody is not only used extensively in the 'Overture to The Three Angels' it also forms the main theme of the entire central piece. In this central piece the melody can first be heard as a fugue by the woodwind instruments and then by the brassinstruments and ultimately ends in a grand tutti which features all the themes of the entire work. The first and the last part of the composition are not based directly on the chorale melody but constitute a contemporary commentary of the central part. These are not literal references but rather the sounds of the heralds.

The Sirtaki is a typical Greek traditional folkdance. The Sirtaki of Teodorakis from the movie Zorba The Greek is probably the most famous one of all time. This dance begins slowly and modestly and develops into a stirring ecstasy!

This love song from the movie of the same name by James Berardinelli (1988) was composed by the excellent soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone.The simple and wonderful theme has been arranged magnificently by Jan Rypens and it provides a stylish and romantic intermezzo during your concert. It is also ideal for warming up before a competition.

In 1962 this song remained in the international charts for many weeks. It’s a classic that has survived the times and it is still a great singsong today. This simple arrangement by Sven Van Calster with a transparent choice of instruments can be performed by small and large associations alike.

Camille Saint-Saëns is especially known for his composition �Carnaval des Animaux� and his organ symhony. �Marche Militaire� however is an almost unknown but remarkable masterpiece. An excellent work arranged by Georges Moreau.

This popular robust march should always be part of your diversified concert programme. The original title of this march is in German Unter dem Doppeladler but it became famous around the world just like Sousa’s many marches. This classic piece of music is suitable for every association and particularly recommended if you are a fan of classic traditional marching music.

Niflheim can be described as „the realm of death” and it comes from Germanic mythology. In Wouter Lenaerts’s most recent work which he wrote for the Flemish Brass Band Orchestra on the occasion of the World Music Competition in Kerkrade we are taken on a musical journey to the end of time the Apocalypse which is caused by a devastating nuclear disaster with only one survivor. The challenging composition is full of historical symbolism and thematic elements.

Symphony for the Future was originally a soundtrack written for a multimedia spectacle with film light and laser effects. The soundtrack which initially consisted of 4 parts was played live by a symphonic orchestra and a pop group in sync with the screening of a film. The assignment was to reflect a message of hope and positive enthusiasm for the future using music and film as a mixed media. In this arrangement for wind instruments the 4 parts come together seamlessly. Jan Rypens has succeeded in producing an excellent orchestration of the piece.

This composition was written especially for Tina Turner by three big names from the history of pop: producer Phil Spectorand the composer duo Jeff Barrie and Ellie Greenwich. This song just had to become a hit! A sparkling arrangement to get the audience dancing!
