Pop Tune Variations is a composition in several short movements based on one main theme. Each variation has a specific character and style. This work is especially suitable for youth orchestra’s or lower divisions and has at the same time a didactic function.

This fantastic overture of the Belgian composer Jef Maes formed the end work of Georges Moreau in the same class as Jan Van der Roost. Virtuoso passages alternate with rich instrumented melodic fragments and thereby create a wide symphonic sound image. A stylish opening work for your concert but also ideal for coming straight to the point in competitions.

New Signature allows us to introduce Dominiek van Nuffelen to you. The piece starts slow and deliberate then flows into a faster movement in which rhythmic precision and accurate combined playing are required. Influences from light music together with elements from rock music have been interwoven in the piece.

This classic 1962 war film about the landing of the Allied troops at the end of the Second World War is a historic link to the recent D-Day memorial. This upbeat march is a kind of cynical reference to the horror and madness of World War II at the time of the fall of the Third Reich.

Club Paradiso is a work by Sven Van Calster written in his well-known approachable style. He composed this work in the hotel of the same name during a holiday in Alanya Turkey. He paid special attention to an even distribution of the most enjoyable passages amongst all the parts of the orchestra and also took care of the necessary duplications so that most orchestras are able to play the piece.

This splendid colourful concert work lets your band shine in every respect. The dreamlike beginning is followed by a dancing passage that grows increasingly impassioned and in which all groups have their turn in the spotlight. Afterwards the dramatic theme from the start returns to the fore with a splendid antiphon in the horns/euphoniums bringing the work to a grandiose close.

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go is a song from the English duo Wham! first released as a single in the UK on 14 May 1984. It became their first number one in the UK and America and was also voted as the nation’s 13th favourite 1980s number one by the British public in 2015. Your audience will definitely be awake after enjoying this 80s classic!

Cuba is one of the word’s few remaining communist countries and has a turbulent history behind it in no small part due to the charismatic Fidel Castro who has steered a more Western course in the last few years. Willy Fransen wrote a musical travel piece about the real Havana with illustrations from the local scene enjoying a daiquiri while a live band plays in the Buena Vista Social Club.

Just The Two Of Us - Ain't No Sunshine - Lovely Day

With this festive overture which can also be played as a concert work we introduce this young Japanese composer for the first time. He is already a real superstar in Japan and with this piece we get a little peek at why this is so. This piece is reminiscent of a flashy movie soundtrack with powerful and enthralling melodies and spectacular rhythmical sections. A very promising piece from a very promising composer.

The primal forces of nature are featured in this piece!The refrain can be sung or played by a children’s choir and movements are even provided along with hand-clapping foot-stamping and a powerful “Ha!” at the end of this piece which offers a lot of fun.

Frédéric Devreese is one of Belgium�s most well-known composers. His international reputation is based on his varied repertoire including film music orchestral pieces and piano concertos. Frédéric Devreese has transcribed many of his orchestral works for wind band. He is now adapting his film score from the renowned film �Benvenuta� by Belgian filmmaker André Delvaux (1926-2002) and is compiling a magnificent suite. The �Benvenuta� suite is the first of a series of prestigious Frédéric Devreese transcriptions which will appear at BERIATO.

“2nd Sinfonietta” was composed in 2005 for the “Musikgesellschaft Cham” and is made up of three parts each flowing into the next. The themes presented in the first movement migrate through the work and return transformed at the end. Each part has its own colour and calls on a varied sound palette. This composition has been put together in an ingenious and thoughtful manner and is suitable for prestigious concerts or as choice piece for competitions.

For this work the composer found inspiration in the magnificent orchestral ballads of pop stars such as Marco Borsato Celine Dion and Laura Fabian. The instrumentation permits the moving melodies of Ballata Per Te to be played by nearly every orchestra. A selection of minor and major scales are used.

This track from the movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” (1949) became famous around the world thanks to the performance by Marilyn Monroe. Bart Picqueur has made an arrangement which is true to the original and in which you can also include vocals. The vocal section is available as an option.

Ekato which is Greek for 100 was commissioned by the Royal Brass band “De Strijders” from the town of Oosterwijk-Werstelo (Belgium) on the occasion of their 100th anniversary in 2006. The piece was composed during the composer’s visit to the island of Kos (the island where Hippocrates lived) in Greece.The beginning of the work depicts the calmness of the countryside and the pleasant bustle of the port. The slow passage paints the wonderful landscapes and the beaches and is followed by a festive finale in which the composer depicts the Castle of the Knights of St John.

In this piece which consists of four contrasting sections in which doubling of parts make it suitable for a wide range of bands. The first part is a kind of musical appetizer which has a heavy disco beat while the second part is a romantic ballad. The third part is inspired by an Irish dance and the last part is a variation of the first part with a spectacular ending. This work makes an ideal challenge for dynamic and young bands.
