Scottish Folk Song-This well-known Scottish folk song presents the image of a Scottish Pipe band in formal Scottish dress with their tartans kilts and all. The Bonnie Charlie mentioned in the text is of course a reference to Prince Charles Edward Stuart whose efforts to reclaim the Scottish throne ended in disaster. The 1745 rebellion was followed by a period of widespread repression of Scottish culture including music and the wearing of the kilt. SSS. Richardsong A

As this version evolves the lady abandons her life of luxury for the romantic freedom of the gypsies eluding capture and living out her life in tranquility. The melody is accompanied by the piano in the style of a balladeer guitar accompaniment. Arranged for two-part treble voices and piano accompaniment The Raggle Taggle Gypsies is a beautiful adaptation of the traditional Scottish folk song. The melody is accompanied by the piano in the style of a balladeer guitar accompaniment. The overall effect is a relaxed and almost magical quality spun effortlessly from the beautiful dorian melody.

Here is a collection which spans four centuries and more than five countries - some vibrant threads from the rich tapestry of early music. We don't necessarily think of the violin as an early music instrument but in fact it evolved soon after 1500 during the early years of the musical renaissance in a form more or less as we know it today. Most of the music in this anthology has some connection with stringed instruments either the violin itself or one of its forerunners such as the rebec medieval fiddle or viol. A rich tapestry of European music from the 13th-16th centuries written and arranged by Edward Huws Jones for Violin. Includes the medieval Estampie Royale and the famous L'Homme Armé Kemp's Jig and Henry VIII's favourite Pastime With Good Company via a rollicking Morris dance a comical Bouree and more.
