Adiemus Colores sees Karl Jenkins weaving his established and highly successful Adiemus concept together with the exotic and flamboyant sound world of Latin American music. In taking inspiration from composers including Dizzy Gillespie Chano Pozo Antônio Carlos Jobim and Astor Piazzolla whilst retaining the ‘classical’ principles and instantly-recognisable vocal sound of Adiemus Jenkins has created a new work full of vibrancy painted in all colours of the rainbow. ‘Walk on a rainbow trail walk on a trail of song and all about you will be beauty. As a composer he recognises no boundaries – musical commercial geographical or cultural. His is a way of thinking and composing that is perfectly in tune with the spirit of the times – Classic FM Magazine Released ten years after the original Adiemus albums that helped to make Karl Jenkins ' name Adiemus Colores draws inspiration from the sights sounds colours and rhythms of Latin American music. As with the original Adiemus Jenkins combines classical principles with the flavours of world and ethnic music supported by lively Percussion. His Choral writing adopts an invented language with nomeaning like scat singing in jazz. Each movement is named in Spanish after a colour and explores the mood that each evokes for the composer embracing Brazilian samba Argentinian tango and Spanish bolero. Adiemus Colores is scored for Choir and Ensemble with Soloists with a total duration of 75 minutes.

Following Three jazz carols and Three more jazz carols is a pair of further innovative jazz arrangements of carols originally created in 2012 for a service of Jazz Carols at St Martin in the Fields London by Will Todd. Todd’s iconic rich harmonies and toe-tapping rhythm serve to bring new expression to familiar Christmas material which is written for SATB voices and piano with scope for optional congregational singing. They can be performed using the supplied piano part or embellished using the supplied chord symbols. Double bass may also be used in addition to piano again following the supplied chord symbols and parts for optional jazz ensemble (brass quintet and jazztrio) accompaniment are available for download.

Scored for chamber orchestra and dating from 1999 this work is built on MacMillan’s /i> shorter Piano Sonata of 1985. That work was composed during a bitter Ayrshire winter: the composer recalls the barren trees and hard frozen ground of a landscape that was empty and silent but for the harsh hollow cry from the rookeries. Throughout the three movements the music conveys a mood of elegy despair and desolation. In Symphony no 2 the original has been ‘opened up’ to new forms of expansion sometimes according to colouristic potential at other times to dramatic or even originally unseen potential. The first movement is short and preparatory to the moreextended second movement. The third movement is a brief postlude almost an afterthought to what has been heard during which some of the principal memories of the earlier movements are stated over some quotations from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
