Norda Tango (Northern Tango) was inspired during a circus production in 1996. The music played live by an accordion duo defined the atmosphere and the action of a virtuoso trapeze artist. In 1997 Foppe Jacobi rewrote Norda Tango for accordion orchestra to be performed at a regional accordion festival.

The thematic cornerstones are DORN after the commissioning band CMV Juliana in Doornspijk Netherlands. It also contains the chorale ‘Schmücke dich du liebe Seele’ used several times in different variations. Adornia contains beautiful melodies broad dynamic passages and has a spectacular conclusion.

Atlantic Overture is a sparkling piece symbolising a journey by ship from Europe to the Americas. The music tells the story of a ship leaving the European coast on a journey that depicts the beauty of the open sea and the sunlight on the horizon. Finally the main theme returns in a brilliant ending that heralds the arrival in America.

This concert overture which has the air of a symphonic poem takes its inspiration from an ancient Roman bridge. A massive introduction a threatening allegro and alternating virtuoso and chorale themes quickly succeed each other. Trombones and trumpets introduce a rhythmical theme which develops throughout all instrument groups. The allegro is characterised by a quasi-obsessive cadence which depicts a Roman army constantly beating time.
