An Oratorio based on the story of Judas Maccabaeus's election as the leader of the Jewish People after the death of his father Mattathias and the subsequent wars that ended in the rededication of the Sanctuary of Jerusalem. This is a special concert version edited by Frank Van Der Stucken with a piano reduction of the original orchestral accompaniment. Coming from Haydn's London years the Oratorio is a setting of English words by the Rev. Thos. Morell and was first performed in London on the 1st April 1747.

Score and Parts-Taking this familiar holiday melody Michael Brown has created an impressive arrangement for young players. Opening with the simple melody stated in flutes and vibes the setting then blossoms with full and rich orchestrations building brass lines and creative harmonies. After the emotional peak the piece winds down to a quiet and effective ending. Nicely done. Presented here in full score and parts the arrangement represents a wonderful addition tothe festive repertoire of any young concert band.

The Lark is Mily Balakirev's arrangement for piano solo of the song of the same name by Mikhail Glinka also known as 'A Farewell to St. Petersburg'. It retains much of the lyricism of the original but combines it with the pianistic brilliance which makes it into a solo work.

It is certainly one of the most positive joyous and compelling ever to come from his pen and is believed to have been the last music of his which he attended in live performance. The original Te Deum was writte for quartet of solo voices full chorus of mixed voices Organ and Orchestra; this the vocal score replaces this instrumental accompaniment with piano.
