This colorful three-movement composition by Gilbert Tinner makes use of many popular rhythms and harmonies. Rock and samba styles and a lyrical middle movement in 3/4 come together in this work and are skillfully connected by means of a catchy theme. Due to its careful orchestration this composition can also be played by a band with an smaller contingent of players.

This fantastic new concert work by Otto M. Schwarz is based on the infamous tale of The Count of Monte Christo. Set in 1815 - a few days before Napoleon invaded France the story is one of adventure on the high seas spying buried treasure and savage revenge. So many emotions in one fantastic concert work - this piece is sure to be a winner.

Les trois mélodies de cette suite de chants de marin sont extraites de la très célèbre Fantasia on British Sea Songs de Sir Henry Wood. Farewell and Adieu (1796) relate le voyage retour de marins anglais en provenance d’Espagne. The Saucy Arethusa raconte l’histoire de la frégate HMS Arethusa entrée dans la légende par son duel contre la frégate française La Belle Poule en juin 1778. Quant au pétillant The Sailor’s Hornpipe il est considéré comme un chant national par les Irlandais les Écossais et les Anglais. Hisse et ho !

Le terme “Renaissance” ( rinascimiento ) est utilisé pour la première fois en 1550 par le peintre architecte et historien florentin Giorgio Vasari. Mais ce n’est qu’à partir de 1860 qu’il sert à définir l’art italien des XVe et XVIe siècles. La Renaissance est une période où s’est manifesté un intérêt renouvelé pour l’art classique fusionnant avec un point de vue plus moderne. Cette composition en quatre tableaux réunit quatre œuvres anonymes de la Renaissance. En exploitant les couleurs actuelles de l’Orchestre d’Harmonie Franco Cesarini recrée l’atmosphère fascinante des fastes de la Renaissance. Le premier mouvement est une pavane intitulée Vive Henri IV (vers 1590). Le second mouvement plus rapide est basé sur la pièce Kemp’s Jig datée vers 1600. Le troisième tableau Canario (vers 1500) débute sereinement puis évolue vers un 6/8 pétillant. Le Bransle de chevaux (vers 1590) quatrième et dernier tableau offre une conclusion résolument spectaculaire.

Sir Eu was commissioned by the regional music authority of Upper Austria and the brass band SoundINNBrass. The composition was meant to be very virtuoso and was written for the euphonium player Steven Mead who premièred it and has played it regularly worldwide. The title Sir Eu alludes to the master of the euphonium himself and also to the concept of Europe. From jazz through romanticism to folkloristic elements - this work offers everything that the musical heart could wish for!

The original recording featured vocalist Shirley Bassey and in keeping with the original Otto Schwarz’s arrangement contains an optional part for solo voice. Depending on your needs the vocal part can also be played by an alto or tenor saxophone or a trombone making it an extremely verstile addition to your repertoire.

for Trumpet (Flugel Horn) and Band-Concerto Tricolore is a captivating trumpet concerto in three movements. Each movement has its own musical character resulting in a varied and entertaining piece. The first movement has a vivid and virtuoso character composed in a neoclassical style movement two is written for flugel horn with the accompaniment functioning as a soft romantic background for this beautiful instrument. The sixmovements of Romanian Dances consist of various folk songs whichthe composer collected and arranged and represent a cross sectionof styles from dances with stomping and drumming to dancesassociated with prayer. Each movement can be performed separatelyensuring you will find something for all occasions.

Fantasie über norddeutsche Volkslieder-Take a musical tour of the North of Germany with sailors’ music from the coastal areas combining with the authentic traditional folk music culture of the region. This colourful blend of many different styles of the North German music folklore are given a unique twist being wrapped in a grand big band sound ensuring these fine melodies appeal not only to North German people but to a worldwide audience.

Modern wind music in the style of the great Big Bands was the model for the composition Band Fever by Otto M. Schwarz. It was written on commission of the prestigious South Tyrolese concert band Symphonic Winds. The piece features two soloists one saxophone and one flugel. Rhythms like Hip Hop Style and Double Samba support a catchy melody which is later taken up by the full band forming the basis for the above-mentioned soloists’ improvisations. A unique work in the world of wind music Band Fever allows both soloists and conductor to display individuality and creativity. It is especially suitable as an opener of the light part of a concert or as afeature number for special soloists in the orchestra.

These easy to intermediate pieces cover a wide range of styles and so are ideal for working on aspects such as dynamics phrasing and articulation. At the same time they are excellent performance pieces. On the enclosed CD professional musicians have recorded their interpretation of each piece as an example; then every player is invited to give his or her own interpretation with the play-along version. The piano accompaniment allows you to play the pieces together with a pianist which is educationally even more valuable.
