Flight is a virtuoso solo which seeks to investigate many of the various aspects of flying. It attempts to portray the effort of powered flight the ease of gliding and soaring the thrill of rising on natural thermals and the chaotic swirling of rapid descent. Intended for the flugel horn it will also suit cornet trumpet and euphonium players equally well. Full score and parts of the brass band version are available on hire from the publisher.

from Matilda- When I Grow Up comes from Matilda he Musical the award-winning stage version of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel from the Royal Shakespeare Company. The song is a wish list of the kind of pleasures adulthood is imagined to bring. Of course it is a poignant list because in this case all it contains is freedom from the trials of childhood. This choral version for SATB and piano accompaniment is arranged by Simon Foxley. Watch this brilliant performance from Matilda: The Musical (West End) - When I Grow Up :

Blue Moon written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934 has had many treatments over the decades. Mel Tormé made a smooth hit version in the 1940s Elvis Presley's unusual treatment made its way onto his first album in 1956 and The Marcels had a doo-wop hit with it in 1961 but ‘An American Werewolf in London’ was the first movie to associate this most romantic of songs with lycanthropy. With its timeless chord progression and the bittersweet juxtaposition of its melody and lyrics it's no wonder that this song is widely regarded as one of the greatest ever. The clever play-on-words combine luck with the blues creating theuniversal message that has touched the hearts of countless listeners and performers since its composition. This brand new arrangement by Simon Foxley & Christopher Hussey for SSA choir takes this beautifully evocative standard and updates it with a fresh pair of ears making it a really welcome addition to the Novello Choral Pops series.

Ian Venables' The Song Of The Severn is a cycle of songs in celebration of Worcestershire scored for Baritone Voice String Quartet and Piano. The Song of the Severn…clothes poems by Masefield Housman John Drinkwater and Philip Worner in sharply memorable music of bewitching lyricism idiomatic grace and rapt instinct…No lover of the early-20th-century English art song or pastoral tradition should fail to investigate this notable issue. - Andrew Achenbach Gramophone These five songs for voice with piano and string quartet accompaniment take the Severn Riverand its historical and natural associations as a common theme. They are absolutely stunning in their poignant beauty their profoundly noble and moving sense of tragedy and desolation that never turns sentimental or lachrymose and their perfect union of text and music to a level that rivals Schubert and Mahler. - James A. Peter Dickinson 's Celebration Trio (2009) for Clarinet Violin and Piano. The trio comprises of three pieces - Fugue Lullaby and Dance . ' These three pieces derive froma story by the British poet John Heath-Stubbs (1918-2006) called The Unicorns. Two unicorns are discovered ina remote part of Africa. The two countries Eastland and Westland want to obtain specimens for research sothey send out competing expeditions. The Westland technique is to lure the unicorn with a young girl singing - the Lullaby. The Eastland team uses a dancer so that theunicorn impales itself on a tree – the Dance. Both teams are successful in capturing a unicorn but the mythical animals fall in love andescape happily together in the end.In the story the Fugue celebrates the eventual capture of the unicorns but it is placed first here as a celebration of the remarkable career of the Verdehr Trio. Since theybegan in 1972 they have commissioned over 230 works have performed all over the world and made recordings. Asa result they have virtually created the repertoire forthe medium of violin clarinet and piano. I much enjoyed writing my American Trio(Hymns Rags and Blues) for the Trio in 1985; they played it all over the world andhave recorded it; and this Celebration Triois a tribute to their musicianship andphenomenal enterprise ' - Peter Dickinson .
