Hindemith's Bassoon Sonata while hardly a popular work has attracted a fair amount of attention on the concert stage ad in the recording studio. Cast in two movements with the second containing three inner movements - Langsam Marsch and Beschluss Pastorale-Ruhig - the sonata is short lasting not quite ten minutes. The solo Bassoon part is also included on a separate insert.

The Prince of Denmark's March-Trumpet Aire-For a long time the 'Trumpet Voluntary' had been considered to be a composition by Henry Purcell but it was Jeremiah Clarke who actually composed this highlight of trumpet literature. Also known as The Prince of Denmark March it was originally written for keyboard instruments. Clarke (1674-1707) organist and choir master at the London Saint Paul's Cathedral composed a lot of works but this wonderful gem is the only one that has remained alive - and is often played at weddings in England still today. The same festive character can be found in another composition by Clarke - 'Trumpet Aire' an ideal complement to the better known sister work.The two settings are now availablein a well-priced single edition - to the great delight of performers and listeners alike we are sure.

Studies in Counterpoint Tonal Organisation & Piano Playing- Th cycle of fugues is introduced and concluded by a Praeludium and Postludium the second formed by turning the Praeludium upside down and reading it backwards. In solving technical problems he posed himself Hindemith created not a dry exercise but a work of considerable imagination. Intellectual achievement and sheer delight in playing are shown not to be mutually exclusive. The Ludus is a graphc example of the composer's delight in the fantastic offered to his wife born under the sign of Leo as a birthday present. He illustrated the work with colored pencil among other things drawing a lion for each entry of the subject of the fugues and for each of the twelve adifferent kind of lion according to the character of the music originally published in a limited edition but providing an instructive formal analysis of the music.

The mazurka was Chopin's companion throughout his entire artistic life: He wrote the Mazurka in A minor Op. 68 at the age of seventeen and even his very last composition was dedicated to this Polish dance form. 'Chopin unleashed the unknown poetry which was only suggested in the original themes of the true national mazurkas. Maintaining their rhythm he refined the melody expanded the proportions and introduced a harmonic contrast that was as new as the objects to which he adjusted it…' (F. Liszt). Of the total of 58 mazurkas by Chopin this edition provides a selection of the better known and easier pieces for lessons and music lovers.

At about the same time as 1783-85 a version for piano duet was made which rearranged the movements of the five Divertimenti as 6 Viennese Sonatinas'.Our new edition is based on the piano version of 1803 but also takes into account the original wind divertimenti and attempts to combine the original phrasing and part-writing with an idiomatic pianistic style.The edition is part of the Trinity syllabus 2007 (grade 1st concert certificate)

This important variation cycle was written in the year of Schubert’s death 1828 by Rinck who had studied with the Bach pupil Kittel. The date of composition places it firmly in the organ repertoire of the Romantic period. It is particularly suitable as a light-hearted encore piece but can be equally rewarding as part of any concert programme or even in a liturgical context at Christmas time. This is now the only available edition of the work and is based on the first edition in the collection of the Hessische Landes- und Hochschulbibliothek Darmstadt.
