Pastoreles De Noël by André Jolivet is a piece for Flute Bassoon and the Harp lasting nearly 13 minutes. This piece is really gentle and restrained which demonstrates the quality of Jolivet 's work but also reflects that period of WWII when France was under occupation. These scores are of medium level of ability. Pastoreles De Noël features four sections: L'étoile (the Star) Les Mages (the Wisemen) La Vierge et l'Enfant (the Virgin and the Child) and Entrée et Danse des Bergers (the Shepherds' dance). Each of these parts describes a part of theChristmas story starting with the Flute and the Bassoon in a duet followed by the entrance of the Harp to settle the first part. The second section is quieter expressing the walk in the desert. The Virgin and the Child is like a lullaby and the piece finishes on a joyful dance to express happiness and devotion. André Jolivet is a French composer who was really inspired by the Antiquity and had a strong interest for atonality. He also wrote many chamber music pieces eleven concertos some orchestral and some vocal music.

Having been considered as a 'fashionable' and 'cliché' composer of his day Hahn 's compositions are possibly not as well-known as they ought to be. Portraits De Peintres for Piano however is one of many compositions that shatter these prejudices held representing the engaging diversity of the composer's music. Venezuelan-born Reynaldo Hahn (1875-1947) entered the Paris Conservatoire at 10 years old. He received a high standard of musical education from Decombes Lavignac Dubois and Massenet before becoming a prolific and versatile composer himself writing works for all genres. For Hahn music was amagical art and his compositions often contain expressions of his otherwise hidden emotions and moods. Portraits De Peintres is made up of four movements based on the poems of Marcel Proust depicting four different artists. Hahn 's Portraits De Peintres contains a variety of different features making for a pleasant and evocative work for intermediate pianists.

Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day and it is for this reason that this eighth volume is indispensable to performers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord Organ or early Pianoforte the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much of Scarlatti 's Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The eighth volume comprising Sonatas 358-407 includes the popular and recognised Sonatas in B minor (K. 377) and E major (K. 380). Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day so much so that he was employed in the service of two royal families his Sonatas are composed with much experience understanding and expertise creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre.
