Mesures simples- étude du Rythme is an educational tool proposed by Georges Dandelot (1895-1975) a French composer following the concept that rhythm is the foundation on which melody and harmony are then layered. It was conceived to progressively teach musicians how to deal with complicated rhythms such as those used by Bartok or Ravel. This volume is the first of five composing a step-by-step method to learn and master rhythm in music. It covers basics and simple melodies; the second volume introduces more complexity on the same concept then the third one should help pianists to play different rhythms with each hand. Volumes four andfive use complex combinations of rhythms and melody with binary and tertiary tempos.

Sonatina by Eugène Bozza is a piece for four unequal Clarinets (an E flat Clarinet two B flat and a Bb Bass Clarinet). Strongly lyrical this piece which lasts approximatively 7'50 minutes is very interesting and quite challenging to play. It explores the full high and low of the instruments and requires some good ability of breathing and strong agility. It is divided into three main parts which are: I. Allegro vivo II. Calme (Quiet) and III. Allegro Vivo. While the first and third sections are very cheerful and energetic the second part is slower and more reflective. Eugène Bozza won differentprizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.

To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His Petite Gavotte for Alto Saxophone with Piano accompaniment is no exception to the composer's success. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes while remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1964 Bozza 's PetiteGavotte addresses a variety of features of the Alto Saxophone suitable for intermediate saxophonists. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza 's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistently sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.'

Quartet for Saxophones is a piece for four Saxophones composed by Alfred Desenclos in 1964 which lasts around 15 minutes and 30 seconds. Initially written for the Marcel Mule Quartet Quartet for Saxophones is a typical French quartet quite smooth and suave. The beginning of the piece that sets up the Soprano Saxophone against the others is quite jazzy but then it continues on to a more lyrical part quite slow with a simple melody. The tension is gradually built up and the finale unison is introduced quite dramatically with some bursts of energy. This Quartet for Saxophones would fit a Quartet of advanced to professional players. Alfred Desenclos (1912-1961) is a FrenchComposer who won the Prix de Rome in 1942. He also composed masses such as 'Messe de Requiem' and other pieces for Double Bass Harp Flute Trumpet or French Horn.
