With few study books in existence for the Snare Drum Progressive Technical Studies fills a large gap. As a prominent Snare Drum player himself Guy Lefèvre (1931-2004) produces well-informed studies for the instrument. The first volume of Progressive Technical Studies is intended for beginners of Drum studies. The diversity of these short and progressive rhythmic studies will ensure the student will rapidly advance in their learning of the instrument. Exercises should be addressed slowly with particular attention given to the precision and regularity of the beats. Lefèvre 's 40 pages of exercisesin the first volume of Progressive Technical Studies for the Snare Drum are essential to developing percussionists.

Volume 2- With very few studies exisiting for the Snare Drum 20 Studies for Snare Drum fills a very large gap. Professional percussionist Frédéric Macarez compiles the studies with a wealth of experience. Many of Macarez s studies are inspired by symphonic repertoire while others are influenced by rhythmical difficulties synonymous with the instrument. Still others prepare the performer for less conventional uses of the instrument. Focus in the second volume of 20 Studies for Snare Drum is given to the systematic study of individual technical problems inspired by symphonic repertoire. Macarez scompilation 20 Studies for Snare Drum is essential to the technical progression of advanced Snare Drum players.

French composer Alfred Désenclos (1912-1971) described his music as romantic. His music is expressive and atmospheric as heard in his Plain-Chant Et Allegretto for Trombone and Piano. Désenclos studied at the Roubaix Conservatory and he won the 1942 Prix de Rome. His Plain-Chant Et Allegretto was published in 1965 towards the end of the composer's life. A typical performance lasts around eight minutes in which the Trombone solo line is enhanced by rhythm and technique. As expected the two movements are contrasting suitable for the advanced trombonist. For all Tromboneplayers seeking alternative and challenging repertoire Désenclos' Plain-Chant Et Allegretto makes for a riveting performance.
