Its sequel “Saga Maligna” is a colourful and varied composition which appeals strongly to the imagination. It is cleverly composed so that each instrumental section features across the many beautiful melodies.

This new piece by Stef Minnebo allows your band show off its rhythmical side. All groups are showcased and it is totally suitable for young dynamic bands.

This splendid colourful concert work lets your band shine in every respect. The dreamlike beginning is followed by a dancing passage that grows increasingly impassioned and in which all groups have their turn in the spotlight. Afterwards the dramatic theme from the start returns to the fore with a splendid antiphon in the horns/euphoniums bringing the work to a grandiose close.

Club Paradiso is a work by Sven Van Calster written in his well-known approachable style. He composed this work in the hotel of the same name during a holiday in Alanya Turkey. He paid special attention to an even distribution of the most enjoyable passages amongst all the parts of the orchestra and also took care of the necessary duplications so that most orchestras are able to play the piece.

Romanza was written as a ballad for the composer�s wife. The first theme is already introduced in the first two bars with a descending line in the woodwind. After this the chorale-like theme returns in the alto oboe and horn. The theme is then repeated but this time in a close harmony setting in a minor key. Then comes the second theme which is extremely melodious. All the parts of the orchestra complement each other in rendering this theme in its entirety. This second theme is the basis on which to launch a development that ultimately reaches a climax based on the last four bars of the first theme after which the theme returns once more though this time as a solemnchorale by the brass. The finale of the work is a variant of the beginning which completes the circle.

It describes an extramarital affair between a man and his lover Mrs. Jones. This single became Paul’s only #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1972. Bart Picquuer arranged this beautiful song for a C/Bb or Eb solo instrument with Concert Band.

In 1962 this song remained in the international charts for many weeks. It’s a classic that has survived the times and it is still a great singsong today. This simple arrangement by Sven Van Calster with a transparent choice of instruments can be performed by small and large associations alike.

Aurora Borealis more popularly known as the Northern Lights was a source of superstition in the Middle Ages. This dazzling spectacle which is accompanied by whispering sounds put the fear of God into those who didn’t know that this was simply one of nature’s grand shows. Many heathen attributed the phenomenon to the incomprehensible ways of the gods. Today we know better. Every 11 years the amount of particles emitted by the sun is at its highest level as is the case this year. These particles are hurled away from the sun beyond its magnetic field. A small percentage of these particles are able to penetrate the earth’s atmosphere. Once they are here they begin tocollide and form the beautiful patterns in the night sky which we call the Aurora Borealis.

In this medley our arranger Geert Deforche has combined three mega hits from the 80s: �You Can�t Hurry Love� by Phil Collins �Walking on Sunshine� by Katrina and the Waves and �The Way to Your Heart� by Soulsister.

The Balkans region has always been a source of musical inspiration for composers throughout the centuries. Strong rhythms and often-abundant musical climaxes are two important characteristics of this rich and varied musical style. Etienne Crausaz took some of these elements and mixed it with elements of rock turning this Balkan Dance into an exuberant and spectacular piece of music during which no one can remain seated!

A medley of songs from one of today’s most celebrated pop stars Eros Ramazotti is certainly a challenge for every arranger. Sven Van Calster has made a great job of it including Un grosso no Cose della vita and of course Se bastasse una canzone.

With Skyline we introduce you to Sven van Calster as a composer for the first time. This easygoing composition with a moderate degree of difficulty is just the thing for young and dynamic ensembles and conductors.

This �Air on a G String� is taken from the third orchestra suite of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and is probably one of the most famous melodies of this German baroque composer. We have the pleasure to present you Peter Schüller with this very special arrangement. He arranged this melody in a manner which remains faithful to the original and shows great respect for theoriginal texture. This work can be played by all orchestras and provides a great opportunity to develop style and tone.
