This work was commissioned by Fanfare Sint-Willibrordus Wintelre from the Netherlands and describes the power and wonders of nature in 4 atmospheric movements: Birth Battle Silence and Water . Wonders of Nature was composed as a soundtrack for a nature film and even without the images the work will appeal to the performers as well as the audience. It appeals to the listener’s own fantasy and imagination as one can attempt to visualise the imagery whilst listening to the music.

This magnificent choral from Bert Appermont begins very slow. The different groups of instruments play the same theme and lead to a big climax. After that the instrumentation gets smaller to end in a silent way.

One of the biggest hits of WetWetWet has been arranged in an excellent way by George Moreau. �Love is all around� will certainly please the young audience.

Concert March- Playday! is a concert march for wind band that displays the composer’s sheer joy at writing music. He was in fact writing another piece of serious music when a sudden burst of inspiration came to him - he knew he had to put the other piece aside to start work on this special march immediately. Excited to get his music into writing and share it with the world the march was completed in just three short days. Full of fun and playful sounds Playday! opens up many imaginative possibilities within the familiar concert march form.

Symphonic Poem-The source of inspiration for this work was the play Das Käthchen von Heilbronn (Katie of Heilbronn) which was written by Heinrich von Kleist in 1810. The music evokes the underlying drama tensions and emotions of the characters involved: “The Blacksmith’s Daughter” “Kunigunde” “The Fire” and “The Emperor’s Daughter”. The title ‘Battle of Hearts’ refers to the two women from the story (Käthchen and Kunigunde) who both fight to win the heart of Count Von Strahl. This is an impressive non programmatic but strong thematic work suitable for concerts or contests. This work was commissioned by Bläserjugend Kreisverband Heilbronn.

The Final Destiny of the Gods-In Nordic mythology Ragnarök is the downfall of the gods and of the world which takes place as a kind of battle between giants and gods. Under the flaming sword of the god of fire everything is laid waste - but only to make way for a new world and a new order. Bert Appermont took inspiration from this old saga for a magical majestic concert band work that can also optionally be performed with choir.

Audivi Media Nocte is based on the eponymous motet by Thomas Tallis from the 16th Century - a work that holds great fascination for Oliver Waespi. During the process of composition various chord sequences and rhythmical structures emerged that led the work in the direction of a musical drama with elements of a concerto grosso and solos for different soloists. An innovative virtuoso and gripping work that can also take you far in competitions!

The title of this work Febesa refers to the four notes it is based on: F E Bflat (BES in Dutch) and A. At the beginning of the work the sound of these notes creates a mysterious extraordinary atmosphere. The work slowly builds from the low brass as the thematic torch is handed to the woodwind section and this leads into a grand tutti. In a tonal and refreshing allegro the febesa-theme now has a more harmonic role. After this passage the symmetric form of the work brings us back to the mysterious atmosphere of the introduction with solos for euphonium oboe and flute.

Dear Frog describes the story of a prince who changes into a frog and then waits for a princess to kiss him so that he can turn back into a prince again. A musical satire for the trombone and orchestra. What is remarkable about this work is the use of the wah-wah sourdine throughout the entire piece which gives it an extra amusing flavour.

The attacks in Brussels on 22 March 2016 created a shockwave throughout Belgium and the rest of the world. Equally the attacks in Paris and Nice led to great public indignation fear and disbelief. What has happened to the western world? Have our cultures grown apart to such an extent that we do not understand each other anymore? Bert Appermont’s intention was to voice certain emotions that these acts of terror have caused: particularly fear grief anger and helplessness. He uses the French children’s song Au Claire de la Lune as a connecting thread throughout the work. This piece is also about hope and faith in another world and is meant to pay homage to allvictims resulting in a dignified remembrance. The musical development is presented in four through-composed parts titled Innocence In Cold Blood In Memoriam – We Shall Rise Again and A New Day . This work was commissioned by the Brassband Oberösterreich (Brass Band Upper Austria) to be played at the European Brass Band Championships 2017.

As written by Gerry Rafferty-Baker Street is a stop on the London underground also known as the Tube. Scottish guitarist Gerry Rafferty started his musical career deep underneath London’s streets busking at various stops. He finally made it big on the international scene with his song Baker Street. This hit also helped his album City to City sell over 4.5 million copies. Hans Thijssen has created an arrangement that captures the sounds of the subway and includes an optional solo for electric or bass guitar (also playable by the alto saxophone).

This Little Christmas Suite arranged for concert band by Robert Finn contains three European Christmas carols of uncertain origin. The three movements Baile de Nadal (from Spain) Still Still Still (from Germany) and The First Noel (from England) create a delightful suite for any concert band and can also be performed with a choir.

Cathedrals have always appealed to the imagination. Hundreds of years of manpower have been invested in their building and it is not for nothing that today they represent imposing symbols of architecture and history. The cathedral is also a great source of inspiration for compositions drawing on a full palette of acoustic echo effects Gregorian melodies and organ based choral themes.The work “ Catedrals” opens with a five tone motif using double tonguing which resonates through space. Then comes a Gregorian antiphonal theme “Salve Regina” which is heard in the euphonium and later combines with the opening motif. The quicker passage that follows is basedentirely on the intervals in the motif which by now has added rhythmic variations and develops in different forms including a fugue. The work then builds towards its first climax from which unusual muted sounds emerge creating an atmosphere shrouded in mystery.Gradually more melodious fragments are added to the Gregorian antiphonal theme which develops into an expansive choral emulating the organ and which rises above the sound mass. The work grows more powerful and brilliant in sound until it culminates in a short and explosive finale wherein elements from the whole work come together.

Bamberg has a population of approximately 70.000 people a city not far from Bayreuth famous for its Bayreuth Festspiele. The River Regnitz the historic buildings and the famous orchestra Bamberg Symphoniker are the source of inspiration for A Bamberg Fantasy. Following the opening with its beautiful melodies played by different sections the mood suddenly changes into an allegro ritmico in the minor key with rythmical elements and dynamic harmonics. In the finale changes in time signature add a flowing character to this composition.
