The text draws on her personal experience and unshakeable faith in God death and eternal life. The melody by Friedrich Silcher is written in a simple and delicate style but also draws on the grand romantic tradition of Wagner and Bruckner. This arrangement can also be performed with a mixed choir. The choir parts are in German.

Everest is the name of a restaurant on the 40th floor of a skyscraper in Chicago. In 2003 the composer Jacob de Haan had dinner there together with his publishers and other fellow composers. The idea of composing a march to honour the excellent cuisine the magnificent view of the skyline and the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant arose during the visit. The results can be heard in this delightful and unusual work.

Theattractive book is suitable for the violinist who is already familiarwith the first position however in some pieces it makes a start withthe third position as well - alternative small notes have been addedin these cases to make the melody also entirely playable in the firstposition. The Gavotte is an old dance that is used by most of the baroque composers such as Bach and Handel. This gavotte composed by Handel has been expertly arranged for young band by Andrew Watkin.

This piece is dedicated to all the citizens who live have lived and will live in the US town of Algona who commissioned the work to celebrate it’s 150th anniversary. With dark-tinted tones (low drums heavy brass) this overture begins with a primitive sacred feel it seems as if centuries-old Indian singing is heard once more. Gradually the sound becomes clearer and brighter as the same theme travels throughout the band in various guises and variants. Imposing tutti passages then give the band the chance to lavishly shine. This bright and catchy overture radiates spontaneous energy and as it features every section of the band all the players as well as the listenersare continually surprised and captivated.

For many years Peter Kleine Schaars’ jazz quartet provided sparkle and energy for various festivities and other occasions. If required the ensemble could alternate jazz repertoire with pop and latin music too. Their wide experience taught the musicians that an hour of unbeatable repertoire is the perfect end to every swinging party. Based on this practical knowledge Kleine Schaars has chosen his favourite pop pieces and arranged them in this animated medley entitled That’s the Way (I like Them).

All I Ask of You is one of the main songs from his award winning musical Phantom of the Opera.

Au fil des siècles de nombreuses suppositions et spéculations ont été avancées quant à la fonction de Stonehenge lieu de cérémonies religieuses lieu de rituels et d’adoration mais aucune de ces hypothèses n’a pu être démontrée de façon probante à ce jour. Actuellement on s’accorde à penser que Stonehenge est un calendrier géant. La disposition particulière des blocs permet d’observer le lever du soleil ou le coucher de la lune de prédire lessolstices d’été et d’hiver de déterminer les positions de la lune à travers les diagonales etc. En résumé ce mystérieux monument de pierre permet d’observer les changements de saison. Stonehenge est une mise en musique d’images et d’impressions atmosphériques ; un paysage sonore dont la trame ne suit aucun scénario précis mais dont les images sont réelles.

In 1880 Edvard Grieg composed twelve song poems by Aasmund Olavsson Vinje. He arranged two of these songs for String Orchestra published under the title of Two Elegiac Melodies Op. 34. These two deeply meloncholy pieces were titled The Wounded Heart and Last Spring. The latter of these two titles inspired Tohru Takahashi to produce this expressive and sensitive transcription for Concert Band which will make a fantastic encore piece for any concert.

Little Suite for Flexible Band-This short “cool” suite in three movements can be performed with a variety of instruments from a handful of players to a complete concert band. The first movement radiates joy with a powerful 3/4 beat. The second movement is in the style of a pavane which gives a sense of nostalgia and the final movement forms a cheerful and high-spirited closing with a really funky beat. This wonderful suite has been composed especially for youth musicians and they will all gain great pleasure from performing it.Because of the four-part instrumentation School's Cool is suitable for smaller strengths taking into account that it is important to divide parts evenly among the players. Alsoincludes an ad-lib keyboard/piano part to support the ensemble.

Remembrance Day (Totengedenken) is a chorale-like piece in memory of those who have died in service. Jacob de Haan composed this work for a concert by the symphonic wind orchestra Symphonic Winds which he conducted in Germany on Volkstrauertag (national remembrance day). The composition is based on a text from Totengedenken (Commemoration of Those Who Have Died). This narrative text is provided in four languages and is intended to be spoken (using a microphone) ad libitum during the performance. Choir parts are also available to complement the performance.
