Weihnachtsliedersammlung für Bläser-Gott Zur Ehre is a collection of hymns and chorales compiled by Jan de Haan. Each pieces are arranged in a four part flexible instrumentation so enabling them to be used by bands with a small number of players. Volume 2 contains many famous German and international Christmas carols. Although not all pieces may be recognised instantly they will fit perfectly in any church service or concert. They are also extremely useful for improving the sound quality of your band! Score and individual parts can be ordered separately.

This arrangement for Flexible Wind Ensemble and percussion is suitable for any combination of wind and brass instruments.

The popular Swedish children's series Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking) is about an exceedingly strong and strong-willed little girl with red braids - who is the brainchild of Astrid Lindgren. This series has been broadcasted in many countries. I arranged its cheerful theme tune in samba style. Even with the new rhythm the original song is still very recognizable. In the exuberant samba style the percussion plays an important role. Within the Långstrump Samba this is especially clear in the ad libitum percussion solo halfway through the arrangement. The solo can go on as long as desired and offers plenty of freedom because of the free choice of the instruments used.

inspired by the traditional song An der Weser- Along the Weser as the title suggests is an homage to the river Weser the beautiful waterway that meanders through Northern Germany. With its exuberant rhythms and lyrical melodic lines the work mirrors the strong bond between theinhabitants of the region and the river itself. The connecting thread is the melody of the well-known ‘An der Weser’ composed by Gustav Pressel to lyrics by Franz von Dingelstedt which has been incorporated in three different ways. The result is acomposition that is sure to be enjoyed by both musicians and audience alike.

In five movements the composer describes both the history of the lion throughout centuries as well as the characteristics. A challenging idea to turn into music! Doloroso e Contemplativo- Contemplation is the first movement from the Clarinet Concerto by Jan Van der Roost which was commissioned by Musica Reservata VOF Belgium and is dedicated to the famous clarinet soloist Eddy Vanoosthuyse. A slightly mysterious intro leads to an orchestral climax with ascending melodies and the entrance of the soloist. This occurs at first with fragmentary musical ideas and then with longer melodic lines. The orchestra delivers the dialogue withthe soloist and creates a fitting musical frame with a delicate and colourful instrumentation. Towards the end of the music the atmosphere from the beginning is restored and the soloist finishes on the same note that he started the piece on. The concerto is also available as a piano reduction.

In October 1997 Jacob de Haan visited the Swiss village of St. Moritz where he worked as a conductor. The Mountains around St. Moritz were covered in marvelous autumn colors. The Colors the quietness and nature itself inspired Jacob de Haan to compose this lyrical composition.
