A five movement suite originally written fot Tenor Saxophone and Orchestra this alternate version is for Bassoon with Piano reduction. A terrific piece to show what's new in 20th Century composers. Morton Gould 's Diversions for Bassoon and Orchestra. Reduction for Bassoon and Piano. ' The program notes for Diversions are contained in the descriptive titles of the movements: I.Recitatives and Preludes; II. Serenades and Airs: III. Rags and Waltzes: IV. Ballads and Lovenotes; V. Quicksteps and Trios. The virtuosic demands on the soloist are tantamount to those of a concerto. Because of the nature andtexture of the movements I prefer the less formalistic title Diversions. Originally written for Tenor Saxophone and Orchestra this is an alternate version for Bassoon '. - MortonGould Diversions was commissioned by Carillon Importers Ltd. on behalf of ABSOLUT Vodka with additional participation by R. Philip Hanes Jr. the Phoenix Akron Winston-Salem Symphony Evansville Philharmonic New Hampshire Music Festival NCNB and the Preyer Foundation. The premier took place on November 28 1990 at Avery Fisher Hall New York with the American Symphony Orchestra James Houlik Saxophone Morton Gould Conductor.

Score and Parts-for orchestra. In honour of their 75th anniversary the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra commissioned a number of composers who had written major works for them in the past to write short musical 'postcards'. Morton Gould said of his: 'Mypostcard is called Minute Plus Waltz Rag; it's a slight take-off on 'The Minute Waltz' but with the 'plus' that it's longer than a minute and combines a waltz with a rag pattern in 5/8 time. I wasn't consciously thinking of 1916when I wrote it but it does actually reflect a flavour of that time.' This is the Schirmer edition of the Score and Parts.

Four Movements For Piano Trio' is based on musical materials from 'My Song' a work by Sheng for solo Piano composed in 1988 which attempted to combine his background in Oriental classical and folk music with Western classicalmusic. These four movements extend that idea in the framework of the Piano trio. The first movement is folkloric heterophonic and prelude-like the second relates more directly to source materia being based on a humourousfolk-song from Se-Tsuan. The third movement is a savage dance based on sequences and the last is lovely and nostalgic.

Score and Parts-Also available for two flutes (50481720). Duos For Flute And Clarinet (Op. 34b) was first published in 1973. It is paired with a set of Duos for Two Flutes and formed one of the last pieces of chamber music the composer wrote. RobertMuczynski (1929-2010) composed all his Piano works at the keyboard with the intention of performing them – he disliked academic analysis of his music and wanted people to just “let it be”. As a result his music is imbuedwith a character and personality of its own. Often dismissed as “traditional” by critics his works remain highly playable and popular today.
