English. Originally a purely orchestral work incorporated into Lenten services The Seven Last Words of Christ (each 'word' is actually a full sentence) consists of a slow introduction; seven slow meditative movements; and a brief finale. In the 1790s Haydn was so put off by a poor choral arrangement of the work by another hand that he resolved to make his own and recruited Gottfried van Swieten to prepare a text. This version is translated into English by Maria Massey. As a vocal score this edition includes a piano reduction of the orchestral score.

For Soprano Oboe Clarinet Violin Cello and Piano. ' A mantra is a means of meditation a word or phrase or even a single sound repeated over and over again for the purpose of spiritual centering. The repetition of a mantra is said to bring about personal transformation as the words move from a mere outward mechanical repetition to a true inward resonation within the speaker. The mantra is believed to elevate the soul to bring out a higher deeper level of peace and understanding .' — Rachel Barber

Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra - Percussion duo parts only. What determines the special character of a piece of music written for percussion instruments is the very choice of sets of instruments. In Udacrep Akubrad I have chosen a similar set of instruments for each of the players: a marimba two Darbuka and a tom-tom. This piece draws its inspiration from the “Eastern” music extending the boundaries of the region as far as the Indian sub-continent. The main source materials in this piece are scales and the rhythms emanating from the traditional classical music of the peoples of the Mediterranean; and repetitive minimalism fromthe music tradition of the Middle East as well as the recently developed techniques in western music . — Avner Dorman

From The Four Seasons RV297 Op.8 No.4-From The Four Seasons. Transcribed for Flute and Piano by James Galway. Vivaldi's depiction of Winter here transcribed for Flute by James Galway. People shiver in the snow as the cruel winds pierce them. They run and stamp their feet to try and keep warm and their teeth chatter with the cold.Instead of going out they pass the day contented by the fireside as the rain pours down. When it stops they go out and tentatively walk on the ice slipping and falling but persevering. The ice breaks leaving wide cracks andwind howls around the doors. Such is Winter but it has its joys.
