Study Score No. 127- Charles Fussel 's Three Processionals for Orchestra. Three Processionals is drawn from ideas contained in an earlier work by the composer Voyages based on the poetry of HartCrane. ' In this work I was interested in connecting Hart Crane's use of sea images as a basic vocabulary for his cycle of love poems with Debussy's orchestral sea poem La Mer. The third processional concludes with adirect quote from Debussy. Hart Crane's poems in their profound concentrated language first warn the child that his beautiful and joyous seashore games touch a vast ocean whose depths are cruel And in the following poem loveitself is the great force which sweeps over and moves every aspect of life. To survive this 'tidal wedge' is a fearful and exhilarating struggle and we are frequently 'over-taken' by its power plus the knowledge of ourlimits '. - Charles Fussel

Italian/English. Translated by Ducloux. Giuseppe Verdi was always fascinated by the plays of Shakespeare and wrote three operas based on them. The music for 'Macbeth' whose libretto is by Francesco Maria Piave and Andrea Maffeiis is dramatic and very difficult for the singers particularly the soprano playing Lady Macbeth. This is the Schirmer Edition of the Vocal Score with Italian and English text - the English translation is by Walter Ducloux.

Contens: Sonata No. 1 œ Virginia Sonatinas Nos. 1 2 and 3. David Carr Glover 's Three Sonatinas And A Sonata for Piano solo. ' These four works published for the first time in a single volume were composed to fill the gap that exists in teaching material for the student who has passed beyond the elementary stages of Piano instruction but who is not quite ready to play the Sonatinas of Clementi and the other masters. They are all in Sonata Allegro form. They also have the dual purpose of providing recital pieces of brief duration varied mood and hopefully of attractive musical content. All with all my compositions they have been thoroughly 'researched' with manystudents so that they are most teachable and rewarding for both teacher and pupil alike I hope you will enjoy them . - David Carr Glover

German/English. The final episode of the Ring cycle 'Gotterdammerung' is itself a colossal work - one of the longest evenings of opera in the standard repertory. Musically Wagner has gained such mastery of his music drama and his use of musicalmotives that he treats both with superb freedom - the handling of Leitmotives in this opera can be thought of as one of the most powerful psychological achievements in art. This is the Schirmer edition of the Libretto in theoriginal German with an English translation by Stewart Robb.

She deeply resents him as she had nursed him back to health after abattle only to find he was the slayer of her fiancé Morold. Italian/English. Verdi's 'Simon Boccanegra' was based on the play of the same name by Antonio Gutierrez - the author also of 'Il Trovatore'. It was adapted into a libretto by Francesco Piave and Giuseppe Montanelli but this resulted in an almostincomprehensible plot. Verdi set about a substantial revision of the text with Arrigo Boito and it is this version which stands today. This edition contains the original Italian text plus an English version by Mary Ellis Peltz.
