Il s’agit en fait de quelques étudiants et de leurs proches opposants au régime nazi. En 1943 in_x001E_uencés par la défaite de Stalingrad les membres du groupe risquent leur vie en inscrivant des slogans sur des bâtiments en envoyant des tracts ou en les distribuant à l‘Université de Munich. Ce sera la chute de Sophie Scholl et son frère. Le groupe de La Rose Blanche s’est battu avec des mots contre un régime brutal et inhumain. Une oeuvre évocatrice et bouleversante.

Nostradamus is probably the best-known prophet of the last 1000 years. He lived at the time of the Inquisition and his predictions and medical therapies as a physician caused him to face the wrath of the church forcing him to flee many times. Following the loss of his family to the plague he devoted himself to clairvoyancy. He predicted many events in history in coded form and although there are many ways to interpret these many are believed to be accurate and Nostradamus is still considered to be a unique personality. Whether he is denounced as a charlatan or promoted as a myth he has surely moved humankind with his prophecies.Otto M. Schwarz soundtrack composer since2001 wrote a cinematographic work about this man who is probably the best-known prohet of the last 1000 years.

The year is 1798 and thieves robbers and bandits prowl the countryside wreaking havoc wherever they go and more often than not escaping without so much as a scratch. This was however not the case with a supposedly well-planned assault on the German town of Daaden during which 20 long sought-after crooks from Germany France and Holland where captured. Otto M. Schwarz’ exciting musical montage lets people experience the planning assault and attempted retreat first hand!

Ireland is a multi-faceted country that has developed a popular and distinctive musical culture. The first movement of Dublin Pictures reflects Irish festivals where there is dancing and traditional beer flowing. More tranquil in its feel the second movement illustrates the landscape that can be seen from the Ha’penny Bridge a bridge that crosses the River Liffey in Dublin. This movement highlights the wide range of the orchestra’s sound colours as the musicians’ voices combine with the wind and percussion to accompany the soloist. The lively and joyful rhythms of the last movement take the listener to Temple Bar the famous tourist quarter of the city well knownfor its vibrant nightlife. The music’s energy and virtuosic motifs are in contrast to the previous movement and provide a spirited and festive finale.Marc Jeanbourquin wrote this piece in three movements for Azimuts Brass in 2011. He then arranged it for Concert Fanfare or Brass Band

Gilbert Tinner’s Celebration and Dance was composed specifically to commemorate the 2011 Eidgenössische Musikfest a Swiss music festival that attracted over 23 000 musicians. As the title suggests the grand fanfare celebratory hymn and animated dance all play important parts in this work capturing the excitement and energy of this unique music phenomenon!

Luegit vo Bärg und Tal- Swiss Mountain Song is based on a popular traditional song from Switzerland’s Berner Land. The melody was composed by organist Ferdinand Fürchtegott Huber (1791-1863) whilst the text is taken from a poem by Josef Anton Jenne (1798-1870). Gilbert Tinner’s arrangement for concert band retains the folk flavour of the original with the solo part playable by a flugel horn euphonium or French horn.

Time Machine is a journey through time that begins in the Stone Age. Evolution and the coming of man take place. The journey takes us into the present in which disorientation and chaos abound. We travel further into the future. An unfamiliar quiet and surreal landscape lies before us and we wander through it bewildered as we become aware of the destruction of the environment. Suddenly and for no reason memories from our childhood are awoken. Cultures have become completely mixed into one and the evolution of man has run its course. We realise that there is no “afterwards” as before us lies the Stone Age once again... The wheel of time spins blindly on and all isrepeated.

We all set ourselves certain goals in life some of which can be compared to mountains and are not always easy to reach. Red Mountain depicts these moments variously strewn with doubts confidence calm and emotions. Red Mountain won the audience’s prize at the EBBA 2012 composition competition.

for Flugel Horn and Brass Band-Ive been arguably credited with having written some 300 songs 299 of which enjoyed a rather bumpy ride from relative obscurity to total oblivion. Heres the other one. These are the words of the great Jazz pianist and composer George Shearing about his hit of the century Lullaby of Birdland . The list of famous artists who performed this Jazz standard runs from From Ella Fitzgerald to Amy Winehouse. Gilbert Tinner wrote this arrangement for Brass Band preserving the distinctive George Shearing Sound.

for Alto Saxophone and Concert Band-In his solo piece for alto saxophone and concert band Gerald Oswald presents a musical palette of landscapes moods and human characters. The music reflects different and contrasting moods and lifestyles. The composer set out to show the diversity the cultural differences and the contrasting ways of life that might exist right next to each other on a piece of land. The result is a varied composition sure to bring joy to the soloist the concert band and audience alike!

Feuerwehr-Song-Feuerwehr Song As performed by Andreas Fulterer. This song was a big hit in the German charts. It’s a tribute to all voluntary firefighters around the world who regularly risk their lives to save others.

for Brass Quintet and Concert Band-This work was conceived by Otto M. Schwarz as a piece that progresses through different styles in a manner similar to his Concerto Grosso . Thematic material is introduced by a quintet and then taken over by the band and vice versa. Brasserie is one of the very few works of its type.

In 2009 one year after its formation the Swiss brass ensemble Azimuts Brass commissioned its conductor Marc Jeanbourquin to write them a signature tune. He composed Jazzimut which features a festive introduction followed by a lyrical theme. After a few bars of rock rhythm Jazzimut goes disco and finishes with a recapitulation of the introduction as a fanfare. Now available for concert band this is an entertaining piece from start to finish!

Groove Machine by Otto M. Schwarz was commissioned by Brassband Oberösterreich. This bonus track has been recorded by the Brassband Oberösterreich under the musical direction of conductor Hannes Buchegger. A version for concert band is also available.

The mysterious river Traun which emerges from several springs in the Totes Gebirge (the so-called ‘Dead Mountains’) of Styria (Stiermarken-Austria) flows in full splendor and beauty through the loveliest lakes. The Traun meanders through the Salzkammergut like a crystal ribbon along the Ho llengebirge. This piece is like an exciting musical voyage along the river telling the story of a rich history from the earliest Celtic settlements to the construction of important power plants. It offers different and versatile passages for all instrument groups making Mystic River the ideal contest work or the main piece in a challenging concert programme.

(1929-1945)-The impressive musical images created by Otto M. Schwarz tell the story of the German girl Anne Frank who lived in hidden rooms of an Amsterdam town house until her family was betrayed and deported to Auschwitz where they all - apart from herfather- went to their deaths. The composer who himself is the father of two daughters has illustrated various scenes from this young girl's short life in a dramatic and cinematic style.

Franz Liszt’s 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies are characterised by melancholy great expressiveness and wonderful gypsy rhythms. No.2 is the best known of all mainly thanks to the use of various passages for cartoon characters such as Tom andJerry Woody Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny . The whirling billowing music is accessible to a broad audience. This excellent arrangement for wind band by Franco Cesarini will doubtless enrich any concert.
