Symphonic March- Skyliner is the first symphonic concert march from the pen of composer Otto M. Schwarz. His debut in this genre is a spectacular concert march in his unmistakable filmic style. In Skyliner Otto M. Schwarz has fulfilled the wishes of many musicians by composing a concert march which is also available in a grade 4 version.

As cultural ambassador for the state the Orchestra of the Rhineland-Pfalz State Police commissioned this work to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its founding in 2013. What do Steve Jobs Mark Zuckerberg and Johannes Gutenberg all have in common? They all represent a revolution in communication and information technology. Johannes Gutenberg ´man of the second millennium´ was born Johannes Gensfleisch in the German town of Mainz around 1400. He is regarded as the inventor of the printing press with movable type which ushered in a media revolution - thanks to hisinvention knowledge could find its way to every level of society for the first time. This work is an homage to the great man and the far-reaching impact of his invention that is still felt to this day.

British rock band The Police enjoyed their greatest successes during the early 1980’s. The group’s members were Stewart Copeland Andy Summer and Gordon Sumner who went on to enjoy a massive solo career as Sting. Stefan Schwalgin’s medley The Police on Stage brings together some of the trio’s biggest hits: Roxanne De Doo Doo Doo De Da Da Da Every Breath You Take and Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.

In this piece the composer depicts a mother who hears her unborn baby cry for her. She is thrown into doubt as to whether she will keep the child and passes this feeling onto the baby. Underlying this successful work is the Bach chorale Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern and has already proven itself as a winning piece in several renowned contests!

In this work the composer Gerald Oswald tells of the song and dance of the medicine man Buffalo. His songs and the sound of the drums are heard far off on the prairie. This ceremony serves to give thanks to Buffalo who ensures the survival of the tribe.

A Fantasy Adventure- A Princess’s Tale is based on one of the best-known of all fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers with the original German title Schneewittchen . According to the mythologies the story actually took place in Spessart. It is even allegedly possible to identify specific reference points within the plot to Lohr and its environs. Thomas Doss has taken this opportunity to link this story to the area and has even incorporated the motif from the famous “Spessart Song” into each of the four movements Once Upon a Time… The Dwarfs The Glass Coffin and The Princess’s Release and Wedding .

Music by James Last-German band leader composer arranger and music producer James Last has created many hits during his long career. Particularly memorable are the theme tunes and soundtracks that he composed for television programs and films. Gilbert Tinner has arranged Last’s award-winning melody from the 1968 TV-film Morgens um sieben (ist die Welt noch in Ordnung) for concert band.

This piece tells the story of the tower as the only remain of the once legendary castle in Waldneukirchen. The Devil took possession of the tower and of course this leads to nothing good. A fantastic piece featuring Renaissance sequences hidden within a filmic compositional style plus other sound effects integrated into this spectacular and challenging piece full of beautiful melodies and themes!

Ready - Steady - Brass! is one of a number of successful works by Otto M. Schwarz such as Last Call Funky Winds Glory Fanfare and Groove Machine . Starting with a fanfare-style opening the music takes a journey through melodicsections and technical soloistic passages to a grandiose finale.

frei nach Worten aus Franz von Assisi's Sonnengesang for Soprano Solo Mixed Choir and Concert Band-The work presented here Laudate for solo soprano mixed choir and wind band draws inspiration from The Canticle of the Sun ( Il Cantico di Frate Sole ) written by Francis of Assisi shortly before his death. In this prayer Saint Francis praises the sun the moon and the stars together with the whole of creation immortalising them in his text. Thomas Doss has set the first words of each stanza to music in this modernistic pop-style composition: “Laudato si mi signore”. An impressive addition to the repertoire for band and vocals!

La Fanfare de Courtételle (Suisse) a été fondée en 1863 par 16 personnalités du village. En 2013 cet orchestre fort d’une quarantaine de musiciens fête ses 150 ans. À cette occasion elle a commandé une pièce de caractère léger à un de ses anciens directeurs : Marc Jeanbourquin. Catch the Blues débute avec une exposition du thème dans un style blues. Après une transition de percussion le thème est réexposé puis varié dans un style dixie. Cette pièce saura ravir le public par son caractère entraînant et son style jazz.

Sir Eu was commissioned by the regional music authority of Upper Austria and the brass band SoundINNBrass. The composition was meant to be very virtuoso and was written for the euphonium player Steven Mead who premièred it and has played it regularly worldwide. The title Sir Eu alludes to the master of the euphonium himself and also to the concept of Europe. From jazz through romanticism to folkloristic elements - this work offers everything that the musical heart could wish for!

According to a famous statement by Herder folk songs represent the archives of a nation’s knowledge the expression of its heart and theimage that reflects its history and identity. Suite Marchigiana is a three movement piece inspired by folk songs from the Marche in central Italy a region with a very ancient and rich folkloristic heritage. The first movement elaborates on the well-known Pasquella . The Pasquella comes from a traditional winter begging ritual where a group of musicians go from house to house singing verses wishing their audience good health wealth and abundance in return for small amounts of money food and wine. The second movementis an Andante Triste inspired by an old song called Sona la mezzanotte (The Clock Strikes Midnight) a melancholic song that reminds us of unhappy love stories bereavement and so on. Luciano Feliciani concludes the suite with the Saltarello Marchigiano which is bright and sparkling and therefore in complete contrast with the previous movement. Although unproven the Saltarello is thought to have its origins in the 'saltatio' (a latin dance). While the choreae were group dances circular in structure and with a rhythmic progression the saltationes were more lively in character. The fast frenetic and joyous saltarello was without any doubt the most famous musical expression of rural central Italy in the nineteenth century.
