Gerald Oswald’s new composition The Knight’s Castle takes listeners on a journey to the middle ages and introduces its inhabitants. After hearing the majestic introduction a knight is seen riding towards the castle on his way to court the lovely princess residing there. The old ghost inhabiting the castle watches this romance blossom with great sadness. Only the castle and its ghost know how this story will end. The audience on the other hand will have to use their imaginations…

Bulgarian folk music has a long tradition and numerous typical characteristics such as particular dissonances and complex irregular rhythms. In Bulgarian Dances (Part II) (which can be performed together with the previously published title Bulgarian Dances ) Franco Cesarini has preserved the original spirit of Bulgarian folk music yet has imbued it with a symphonic character and brought it into the concert hall. The three different movements give us a meditative moving folksong and a lively dance before a distinctly symphonic part leads to a glittering finale.

In Greek mythology Hermes plays many roles. Marc Jeanbourquin set the various tasks of this legendary _x001F_gure to music in a compelling concert work. In the _x001F_first movement we see Hermes as the son of Zeus and messenger of the gods. In the mysterious sounding second movement Hermes is depicted accompanying people’s souls into the afterlife and in the third movement we see him in yet another guise: as the god of thieves.

Famous traditionals and carols arranged and performed by Franco Cesarini-This edition includes some of the best-loved Christmas melodies from various countries arranged for flute and piano. The melody runs twice through in different versions each passage preceded by a prelude or interlude on the piano. On the CD FrancoCesarini plays every piece with piano accompaniment once followed by a play-along version that only contains the accompaniment.

Geneva- Genève is a festive march composed on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the “La Musique Municipale de la Ville Genève” music association. The composer Franco Cesarini integrated a traditional march structure with cheerful melodies and a festive brass sound. A Tale for Narrator and Concert Band from Charles Perrault- Puss in Boots a fairy tale character first mentioned in writing by Charles Perrault in the 17th century is a popular figure in children’s books cartoons and comics. Franco Cesarini was inspired by the utter simplicity and naturalness of thetale and put it into a musical fairy tale which—thanks to the narrator’s voice— can be performed as a production with scenery.

Nie Vergessen (Never Forget) is a smash hit by the electropop duo ‘Glasperlenspiel’. Originating from their second album ‘Grenzenlos’ (Borderless) this song sets new standards in its genre.

Neckar March-The town of Schwenningen at the source of the Neckar inspired Wolfgang Wössner to compose this march song. In the trio he employed Friedrich Silcher’s well-known folk song Am Neckar . The march is composed in 6/8 time throughout with the folk song theme likewise arranged in this meter. An optional performance with male choir is possible with the _x001F_first two verses together with the last verse sung.

Hot off the press! Composer Gerald Oswald bases this new work on an old Austrian folksong O du lieber Augustin! The Augustin in questions is a ballad singer and an ad lib poet who apparently wrote this folksong about himself. His grim sense of humour and his attitude towards life that humour can get you through anything are readily apparent in this new piece. Gerald Oswald’s Variations on an Austrian Folk Song received top honours at the 2010 Austrian Composition Contest.

In memoriam Sophie Scholl-Entre 1942 et 1943 un groupe de résistants allemands fondent „Die Weiße Rose“ (La Rose Blanche). Il s’agit en fait de quelques étudiants et de leurs proches opposants au régime nazi. En 1943 in_x001E_uencés par la défaite de Stalingrad les membres du groupe risquent leur vie en inscrivant des slogans sur des bâtiments en envoyant des tracts ou en les distribuant à l‘Université de Munich. Ce sera la chute de Sophie Scholl et son frère. Le groupe de La Rose Blanche s’est battu avec des mots contre un régime brutal et inhumain. Une oeuvre évocatrice et bouleversante.

There have always been heroes big and small. This composition is dedicated to all those heroes who are committed to whatever it may be through a strong conviction; those who have ideals and who stand up for them; those who live their dreams; and finally those ‘everyday heroes’ who undertake their little deeds behind the scenes and receive no thanks for it. These heroes are everywhere but they often shun the limelight.

from Concerto for Double Bass arranged for Tuba or Euphonium and Concert Band-Antonio Capuzzi (August 1 1755 - March 28 1818) was an Italian violinist and composer who studied violin with Nazari and composition with Bertoni. In 1805 he moved to Bergamo where he was professor of violin at the Instituto Musicale and leader of the orchestra at Teatro Riccardi. He was highly regarded there both as a teacher and a performer. Although popular in his day most of his music is now forgotten; his most commonly performed piece today is the Concerto for Double Bass . All of Capuzzi’s known compositions were written during his Venetian years. It was in Venice that Capuzzi became close friends with Domenico Dragonetti Beethoven‘s virtuoso bassist. It isspeculated that Capuzzi wrote his Concerto for Double Bass for Dragonetti. Gerald Oswald has made a fine arrangement of the second ( Andante ) and third ( Rondo ) movements of the concerto to feature either euphonium or tuba with concert band. The solo part is also available in an edition with piano accompaniment.

Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Concert Band-The Pilgrim Concerto written for the 2012 World Music Contest Kerkrade is a highly demanding yet rewarding work for alto saxophone and wind band. It is one of a series of spiritual works by the composer which also includes Symphony inGreen . Sometimes minimalistic and at other times romantic it describes a pilgrim who is at times calmy meditative but also full of anxious impatience to reach his goal.
