Mistral Music for flute and string quartet Op. 90a by Aulis Sallinen was first performed on 27 June 2008 at Pekkala Manor Stables Jäminkipohja Ruovesi as part of the Musiikkia! Rovesi festival by Anna Aminoff (flute) with Okko Kamu and friends.

This little collection of five serenades for solo guitar has been editred by Michael Lorimer is a real treat for guitarists and listeners.

Trio (Op. 10) was composed c.1940 and first published in 1943. It is scored for Clarinet Cello and Piano. One of Frankel’s earliest works it is light and pleasing showing how the composer was first influenced by jazz and classical chamber music before he later turned to larger symphonic works and started experimenting with serialism. Benjamin Frankel (1906-1973) was a British composer and musician. He is best remembered for writing over one hundred film and television scores including The Man In The White Suit and The Battle Of The Bulge but he also wrote eight symphonies and many smaller works such as his Violin Sonata and Concerto which were written for Max Rostal.

When music-lover Carl Zulehner from Mainz delivered the manuscript of this ‘Mozart’ mass to the publishers it was accepted published and was performed. It was later popular in the Victorian era particularly in England. However when Zulehner was challenged about its authenticity he did not come forward with Mozart’s own manuscript. It is possible that Zulehner forged the work himself.Scholars also suggest attribution to Wenzel Müller a Viennese composer of light opera. However many works have been wrongly attributed to Mozart for many reasons. This particular one enjoyed a great following and the Gloria movement is still performed frequently and to greateffect particularly by amateur choirs.
