The words of the Wedding Hymn O Perfect Love were written by the English poet Dorothy Frances Gurney (née Blomfield ) (1858-1932) to be used with an earlier melody. Sir Joseph Barnby then wrote a tune specifically for the words in 1890. This was popularised when it was used in 1893 at the wedding of the Duke of York and Princess Mary of Tek who would later become King George V and Queen Mary. Sir Joseph Barnby (1838-1896) was an English composer and conductor. He was a chorister at York Minster before studying at the RAM. He later became director of Music at Eton and Principal of the Guildhall School of Music.

Considered as a whole Moeran's music has a strong individuality and a very personal flavour. The recipe is the composer's own and there is none other like it. Yet though he has amply covered the field of orchestral music chamber music concertos and smaller vocal works one would not describe Moeran's as a varied talent. He keeps to his centre which is a purely musical one.

The Prelude and Fugue In G Minor (Op. 84) was first published in 1960. It is scored for solo Organ. Craig Seller Lang (1891-1971) was a British composer organist and musical pedagogue who was born in New Zealand. He studied at the Royal College of Music before becoming a teacher at Christ’s Hospital School. His compositions were mostly written with a student performer in mind. He is best remembered for his seminal educational Organ books but he also created prolific volumes of material in both sacred and secular choral genres.

For the occasion of the coronation of King George II and Queen Caroline which took place in Westminster Abbey on October 11 1727 Handel wrote four splendid anthems and personally supervised their performance which was according to all reports one of great magnificence. The four anthems were enthusiastically received and one or more of them has been performed at every British coronation since 1727. Anthem No. 2 ('The King Shall Rejoice') although less well-known than Anthem No. 1 is an equally splendid example of Handel's ceremonial style - what Burney has affectionately termed his 'big bow-bow manner'. This work contains an opening Allegro brilliantand elegant rather than pompous; a grandiose setting of 'Glory and great worship hast thou laid upon him'; and a lively fugal Alleluia as a conclusion. Arranged for four-part chorus of mixed voices with organ or piano accompaniment. Edited and with keyboard reduction by Edouard Silas.
