Walmisley’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in D minor are well known and frequently performed in the Anglican church. This complex work is his much lesser-known Magnificat And Nunc Dimittis In B Flat for Double Choir. It is a worthwhile and intriguing piece by a respected composer of nearly two centuries ago.T A Walmisley was a well-known Organist and composer in the early 19th century. During his time as Organist at Trinity College Cambridge he composed many anthems and other church music.

Nicola Porpora (1686-1768) was a Neopolitan composer and singing teacher. A rival of Handel he formed an opera company which performed his own compositions all over Europe. He was widely acclaimed during his lifetime both as a composer and also as a pedagogue counting Haydn among his students. Regrettably most of his compositions have largely fallen into obscurity since his death. Credidi Propter is a setting of Psalm 116 originally for SSAA Upper Voice Choir Strings and Organ Continuo with optional Viola part. It has been edited by D. E. Hyde and arranged with Piano accompaniment.

Michael Hurd. An operatic entertainment for young people following the traditional ‘Punch and Judy’ with music and libretto by Michael Hurd. Costumes and presentation can be simple or elaborate; accompaniment can be either by piano (piano duet) or classroom instruments (glockenspiel side drum cymbal and xylophone parts can be found in the score). Scored for unison chorus plus a minimum of four soloists who play the eight treble roles. The nine songs include ‘Scaramouch’s Fiddle Song’ ‘Judy’s Lullaby’ and ‘Policeman’s Song And Duet’. 30 mins.

Written for female Voice and Piano. The Piano part is written on two octagonal sheets where the treble and bass parts are interchangable.

Often known as 'the blind organist from Edinburgh' Alfred Hollins was actually born in Hull. His style of organ playing was said to be both entertaining and colourful. His own compositions are often simple in structure and radiate uninhibited joy.

Each song is provided with instrumental accompaniments based on the ostinato principle - short repeating melodic patterns for up to four classroom instruments. The ostinati can be learned easily by heart which enables players to concentrate on those aspects of music-making which are sometimes neglected such as dynamics speed changes careful listening to other parts and a general feeling for the music.
