Boogie Blues & Ragtime for Fanfare Band- Compact Band Series :Cette nouvelle collection propose une série d’œuvres de tous styles dans un degré de difficulté restreint (2-21/2 ). Le choix d’une instrumentation élargie a permis d’obtenir une excellente homogénéité entre les pupitres et de belles couleurs sonores. Ces œuvres sont dont accessibles à la fois aux formations incomplètes ainsi qu’aux formations complètes grâce aux parties optionnelles incluses dans le set. / MAESTRO SWING : Cette suite en trois mouvements croise les genres et les époques et fond en un même flux des thèmes ou éléments thématiques extraits d’œuvres de trois grands maîtres de la musique : Antonio Vivaldi Ludwigvan Beethoven et Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Antonio’s Boogie s’inspire d’une ligne mélodique des Quatre Saisons de Vivaldi. Ludwig’s Blues s’appuie sur les quatre premières notes de la Cinquième Symphonie de Beethoven. Brasilian Beat-‘Baion’ is the name of a slow Brazilian rhythm recognizable by a beat followed by an equally long pause followed by two further half-beats. Baion is also the name of a slower samba-variation that along with the rhythmic Baion migrated to Europe in the 1950‘s. This rhythm is used in Roland Kernen‘s exciting new composition with flexible six-part instrumentation.

From Ancient Times is a major work for brass band inspired largely by the music of the Franco-Flemish School of the Renaissance. Hints of Gregorian chant and middle age dances pay tribute to music from even earlier times. The foundation of this spectacular work rests on truly ‘ancient times’ while the tonal language is of a much more modern nature!

For Cityscapes Jan de Haan used the metropolis of New York the largest city of the United States as a source of inspiration. In three movements he manages to capture some of the Big Apple’s defining characteristics from the breathtaking view of the skyline and the hustle and bustle of Central Park to the excitement experienced in this glamorous and striking city. Let the magic of New York shine with this dramatic new item for brass band.

Latin ABC is a suite in three movements inspired by the music of the Caribbean. The first movement is a joyful Curaçaon waltz the second movement a sensual slow salsa: a style that is popular on the island of Bonaire. Finally Latin ABC culminates with a rousing march that brings the listener to sunny Aruba. This work is suitable for Grade 3 players and showcases the percussion section in particular.

March-A mirage is an illusion something without substance that does not really exist. Although not real its unattainable nature is perfect for musical inspiration. Composer Jacob de Haan was strolling through a picturesque forest of the Dutch Gelderland when he thought he saw a body of water. While there was no water its mere image created waves that can be relived in De Haan’s original composition Mirage.

In A Flemish Christmas Jan Hadermann tells the Christmas story by means of four Old Flemish Christmas Songs.Mary is chosen to bring Jesus Christ the son of God into the world: Het was een maged uitverkoren (‘She was a virgin chosen’).On the occasion of a census Mary who is with child and Joseph her husband to be travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem where Jesus will be born in a humble stable: Maria die zoude naar Bethlehem gaan (Mary would go to Bethlehem’). O kerstnacht schoner dan de dagen (‘Oh Christmas Night more beautiful than the days’) is a stately chorale that sings the praises of Jesus’ birth.Three wise men from the East Caspar Melchior and Balthazar follow a bright star in the sky which leads them to Bethlehem. There they worship the newborn King and offer him gold frankincense and myrrh: Wij komen van Oosten (We’ve come from the East’).This musical Christmas story ends with a festive repeat of the third movement the stately chorale.

Trauermarsch-Robert van Beringen chose a classical theme for this funeral march. For this reason within the trio of this melancholy piece we find echoes of Albinoni’s Adagio which - according to the latest research was actually composed by his biographer Remo Giazotto. Thanks to the four-part variable instrumentation (with ad lib. drums) this funeral march can be played by pretty much any ensemble - whether at a funeral on the way from the church to the cemetery in the church itself or indeed on stage as part of a memorial concert.
