Images of Bellac is based on a series of images of the beautiful village of Bellac in Limousin France. The work depicts different scenes and sights of the village using wonderful themes as well as energetic rhythmical sequences symbolising the positive and dynamic attitude of the inhabitants. Well suited for any concert or a contest.

The instrumental music of the Yiddish-speaking Jews especially those of Eastern Europe is known as klezmer . This terminology was originally used in Jewish cultural life as the name of a musician who plays at weddings. At Jewish weddings which usually last several days of days klezmer musicians played not only dance music but also ceremonial music—for example during the wedding ceremony and also music that was listened to during the wedding feast. Originally there was no special term for this style of music. It was simply referred to as ‘Jewish wedding music’. In the 1970s the music—which is actually a fusion of different influences—enjoyed aresurgence in popularity and came to be known as klezmer. This music contains not only the sounds of the Balkans but also influences of oriental and gypsy music too.Jan de Haan used no original klezmer melodies for Klezmeriana but composed a series of sound-alike in an instrumentation for fanfare orchestra.

Composer Satoshi Yagisawa wrote this fanfare for the anniversary of a concert band whose conductor he knew well. A quiet march-like introduction representing the procession to worship is followed by three verses of the well-known carol: once from a quartet then shared between the various instrumental groups. A festively embellished section leads to an interlude symbolising the start of Christmas celebrations before a spectacular conclusion.

This work was composed as a commission by the Keika Gakuen Symphonic Band to commemorate their 40th annual concert. The composition is a march-style work that begins with a chorale based on a theme from the school song—a distinctive motif that reappears in the middle section. Tetsuya Kashino a graduate of the high school is a band coach and has a deep friendship with the composer. Kashino named the work Scent of Spring which reflects two distinct meanings—firstly in Japanese a part of the band’s own name and also “a premiere in Spring”. Scent of Spring is a bright and optimistic piece of music suitable to perform on various occasions.

Tanabata-In Japan July the 7th is a holiday known as Tanabata for which large celebrations are held throughout the country. The holiday is based on a legend about a young man and a young woman who are separated by the Milky Way and can only see each otheronce a year on this night. THE SEVENTH NIGHT OF JULY is Itaru Sakai´s musical interpretation of this romantic legend. The work was originally composed for wind orchestra and published by De Haske Publications. This version for brass quintet was transcribed by the composer.

Centenary Celebration was written for the 100th anniversary of the Hiroshima Junior and Senior High School in Japan. This work in the typically radiant lyrical style of the Japanese composer is especially suitable for all kinds ofanniversaries and ceremonies. The first movement can be performed separately to open a concert while the second movement serves as an encore.

Music for a Solemn Occasion- The Torch of Liberty has been commissioned by the Band of the Royal Netherlands Military Police on the occasion of their 200th anniversary. The music is based on a monument a torch that is symbolically being passed on by the fallen ones to the new generation. This versatile composition features a beautiful hymn and unique military sound effects in a festive and heroic style.

(Four Slavonic Characters)-During a stay in Slavonia Roland Kernen was overwhelmed by the beauty of this region between the Danube Sava and Drava. The resulting composition does not depict the suffering experienced in the last few decades by this crisis-ridden region buttells of the festivities along the Sava the natural beauty of the Drava and lively atmosphere on the banks of the Danube.

Slow March-There are all sorts of marches: fast and slow solemn and energetic military and civil procession and funeral. Orion is a so-called ‘slow march’. However the moderate tempo does not make a passive or heavy impression. On the contrary this march contains natural optimism and spontaneity. The persistant ‘pulse’ gives this majestic march a noble character

On a Theme in Ancient Style- Chorale Variations comprises six variations on an original theme in Renaissance style. Written as a test piece for the renowned contest ‘Gouden Spiker Festival’ in Friesland (The Netherlands) it is a challenging concert or contest piece presenting attractive and demanding parts for all sections.

The young flautists are keen to take a stroll through the nostalgic lanes and over the lively squares of this famous Parisian neighbourhood. The composer Pascal Proust has many years’ experience as a musician and music teacher. His output includes several hundred compositions for the most diverse instrumentations. He wrote Montmartre for flautists at the level of approximately 3–4years’ study and paid special attention to an easy-to-follow attractive musical style. As a result Montmartre is an ideal performance or competition work for young musicians.
