30 traditional American songs written for children. This delightful collection features bugle call pieces patriotic songs and familiar songs from the early 1900's. Includes: Yankee Doodle * America * The Star-Spangled Banner * Taps * and more. Charles Tomlinson Griffes is said to have originally written these pieces to assist in his own teaching of the Piano as he could not find any music suitable for his students. He published them under the pseudonym 'ArthurTomlinson' - combining his brother's name with his own middle name - as he did not want his name as a 'serious' composer tarnished by association with simple childrens' music! It seems inconceivable that he would have beenseriously embarassed by them since the pieces themselves are well-crafted attractive and interesting educational material. This book includes 'Six Short Pieces' 'Six Bugle-Call Pieces' 'Six Patriotic Songs' 'Six FamiliarSongs' and 'Six Pieces For Treble Clef'.
