Symphonic March- Skyliner is the first symphonic concert march from the pen of composer Otto M. Schwarz. His debut in this genre is a spectacular concert march in his unmistakable filmic style. (1929-1945)-The impressive musical images created by Otto M. Schwarz tell the story of the German girl Anne Frank who lived in hidden rooms of an Amsterdam town house until her family was betrayed and deported to Auschwitz where they all - apart from herfather - went to their deaths. The composer who himself is the father of two daughters has illustrated various scenes from this young girl's short life in a dramatic and cinematic style.

This composition tells the exciting story of Blackjack the pirate ship. She emerges from the fog sails billowing as she cruises the ocean. Suddenly a strange ship appears on the horizon and a battle ensues. Blackjack fires a salvo of canons and hijacks the ship. Loaded with plundered treasure the crew merrily hoist the sails of the Blackjack and embark on their next adventure.

for Flute and Concert Band op. 40-The title refers to the historical period that marked the transition between the baroque and classical styles. Rococo music is characterised by a profusion of ornaments by graceful elegance and lightness of writing. Concerto Rococò consists of three movements: Toccata Elegie and Gigue en Rondeau - typical musical forms of that time. The concerto is very demanding on the technique of the soloist but consequently highlights the flute’s agility and lyricism.

Within the old monastery walls that today are home to the school that commissioned this work a school orchestra is rehearsing: young people who stay together and make music; a teacher who does what he can to bring the students the music and the orchestra together. The concerts begin and the first successes soon follow. Then comes a tragic death that brings the project to its knees. The mood is forlorn. No one expects to continue with it. But ‘now more than ever!’ rings out. The message of this musical story is that when a teacher has ideals and commitment to his students anything is possible.

The Discovery of the New World- Mundus Novus (‘New World’ ) is a travelogue in the form of letters sent by the sailor and explorer Amerigo Vespucci in 1502 to the Florentine nobleman Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco di Medici. Vespucci is credited with four journeys to America eventually leading to Martin Waldseemüller’s map ‘Cosmographiae Introductio' in which the name ‘America’ first appeared.

Old English Christmas Song- The Holly and the Ivy is one of the oldest and most popular of all English Christmas carols. The text refers to Mary and Jesus but equally to the pre-Christian tradition of celebrating the winter solstice. The melody is thought to originate in 11th Century France. Countless stars including Charlie Byrd Petula Clark and Annie Lennox have been inspired to record their own interpretations - just as Franco Cesarini has done with this wonderful arrangement for wind orchestra.

Groove Machine by Otto M. Schwarz was commissioned by Brassband Oberösterreich. This bonus track has been recorded by the Brassband Oberösterreich under the musical direction of conductor Hannes Buchegger. A version for concert band is also available.

The town of Guflina in Liechtenstein offers one of the best viewpoints of the magnificent Alps. Underneath the overhanging ledge there is said to have been a cave in the mountain. In it lived a terrible dragon that was on the rampage in the surrounding meadows spreading fear and terror among the population. At the same time there lived a giant man who had the strength of twelve normal men. The farmers implored him to help them in their distress. Let battle begin!

The Three Towers is an attractive suite about three historical monuments that still adorn the old ramparts of the Suisse town of Fribourg. The three towers are depicted in as many contrasting movements with solo passages featuring in the second movement. Together they form a concert piece accessible for the lower divisions which is interesting for the audience as well as the musicians.

Op. 24-The Flute Trio Op. 24 is comprised of six miniatures hardly any of which last longer than one minute. The composition is highly simplified in nature pared right down to the bare essentials. A minimalist aesthetic is evident in the subtleshifts of timbre between the three instruments that draw the listener in to discover more hidden details. Shifting between poetic magical moments and those more marked by ephemeral flowing rhythmic patterns the work has the character of ameticulously crafted work of art created with painstaking precision.

Bulgarian folk music has a long tradition and numerous typical characteristics such as particular dissonances and complex irregular rhythms. In Bulgarian Dances (Part II) (which can be performed together with the previously published title Bulgarian Dances ) Franco Cesarini has preserved the original spirit of Bulgarian folk music yet has imbued it with a symphonic character and brought it into the concert hall. The three different movements give us a meditative moving folksong and a lively dance before a distinctly symphonic part leads to a glittering finale.

Fire Inferno-On 11 March 1879 in the Austrian town of Neumarkt am Wallersee a huge fire broke out in a brewery setting fire to at least 60 other houses within one hour. Due to poor equipment and a lack of water nearly the entire city was burned to the ground.Only the church was spared. This epic piece musically depicts the events in a programmatic way starting from the inauspicious moments shortly before the disaster throughout the fire and the final reconstruction of the town with the help of thestrong spirit and unity of the Salzburg community. An impressive work suitable for contests and promises to have a great impact on your audience.

The Curse of the Mermaid tells the story of a greedy and wealthy fisherman wanting to make money in any way possible. When his business starts to fail he puts the blame on the mermaids. One day the fisherman kills a mermaid who casts a spell on him shortly before she disappears into the water. The composition is in the form of a symphonic poem starting slow and then mysteriously opening up revealing a fantastic colourful world of sounds and motion. There are various moments during the piece where the composer includes broad and beautiful melodic material as well as surprising effects and great rhythmical interest. This is a challenging but great piece for concertsor contests!

Overture on an Indian Folk Melody Op. 46- Arizona is written in a typical three-part overture form. The composition is not strictly descriptive as such but rather conveys moods and emotions inspired by impressions of the American desert state of Arizona: the endless cactus-studded desert landscape a lone Indian on horseback the legendary Grand Canyon Railroad the Petrified Forest and the famous Monument Valley.

Bert Kaempfert who was born in Hamburg was undoubtedly one of the great German bandleaders and enjoyed considerable international success.
