The year is 1798 and thieves robbers and bandits prowl the countryside wreaking havoc wherever they go and more often than not escaping without so much as a scratch. This was however not the case with a supposedly well-planned assault on the German town of Daaden during which 20 long sought-after crooks from Germany France and Holland where captured. Otto M. Schwarz’ exciting musical montage lets people experience the planning assault and attempted retreat first hand!

A Tale for Narrator and Concert Band from Charles Perrault-The tale Puss in Boots (Le chat botté) written by Charles Perrault (1628-1703) was published in France by Claude Barbin in 1696. Since that time Puss in Boots has become a popular character and has appeared in movies animation and comics. The story was part of a collection titled Contes de ma mère l’oye (Tales of Mother Goose) which included a total of 11 tales 8 in prose and 3 in verse. The most famous of these are: Sleeping Beauty (La belle au bois dormant) Little Red Riding Hood (Le petit chaperon rouge) Bluebeard (Barbe bleue) Cinderella (Cendrillon) Peau d’Ane and Le petit poucet (Tom Thumb).

Walzer- Gute Freunde is one of the most recent compositions from well-known concert band leader and composer Michael Klostermann. Klostermann and his musicians remain synonymous with top-notch traditional concert band music across Europe and this beautiful waltz is no exception!

This beautiful and intense slow composition including lots of melodic and musical sequences is dedicated to Saint Francis-a figure whose life story has always impressed the composer. He had previously honoured Francis of Assisi in several works including a composition for strings an oratorio a mass and a Laudate for choir and concert band. Canzone di Francesco will create a moment of meditation and reflection during your concert but is also very suitable as a warm up piece offering various possibilities to work on intonation phrasing and sound building.

Feierlicher Zug zum Münster from Lohengrin- Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral comes originally from the second act of Richard Wagner’s famous romantic opera Lohengrin . This solemn and stately music accompanies the wedding procession that carries Elsa and her rescuer and hero to the church. This is a wonderful formal work for you to bring the celebrations of Wagner’s 200th birthday to the concert stage.

SOLO BOSSA marks yet another addition to Otto M. Schwarz´s catalogue of solo repertoire and will be especially welcome due to the rarity of solos for flugel horn! Groovy accents create an exciting contrast to the more flowing musical elements. Simpleimprovisations complement the piece which contains a catchy tune that will stay with anyone who plays or listens to the work.

In 2009 one year after its formation the Swiss brass ensemble Azimuts Brass commissioned its conductor Marc Jeanbourquin to write them a signature tune. He composed Jazzimut which features a festive introduction followed by a lyrical theme. After a few bars of rock rhythm Jazzimut goes disco and finishes with a recapitulation of the introduction as a fanfare. Now available for concert band this is an entertaining piece from start to finish!

The title of this work alludes to the flight of the eagle. In the course of a short flight the composer was able to get a birds-eye view of the landscape in which the sun’s rays glistening on the snow and ice transformed the scenery into crystal. This unforgettable image of the breathtaking beauty of the mountains is captured in musical form in From Crystals and Eagles .

Les trois mélodies de cette suite de chants de marin sont extraites de la très célèbre Fantasia on British Sea Songs de Sir Henry Wood. Farewell and Adieu (1796) relate le voyage retour de marins anglais en provenance d’Espagne. The Saucy Arethusa raconte l’histoire de la frégate HMS Arethusa entrée dans la légende par son duel contre la frégate française La Belle Poule en juin 1778. Quant au pétillant The Sailor’s Hornpipe il est considéré comme un chant national par les Irlandais les Écossais et les Anglais. Hisse et ho !

Aber Heidschi Bumbeidschi was originally a traditional lullaby from theGerman region of Bohemia. It?s beautiful smooth moving melody hasensured that this tune has become popular outside of the German speaking countries. Today it is mainly performed at Christmas as a traditional Christmas crib song. With this lovely arrangement youcan create a beautiful moment of peace and contemplation in yourChristmas concert!

Gilbert Tinner has written another sure fire winner with this catchy new work in a relaxed musical style.The sound of the piece with it’s simple musical lines dissonant harmonies and driving beat is in a pop style but could equally have come straight from a west-end musical. for Violin and Concert Band-Dans la mythologie grecque les Sirènes étaient des demi-déesses. Selon la légende ces créatures démoniaques mi-femme (tête) mi-oiseau (corps) vivaient sur trois petites péninsules situées entre Sorrente et Capri. Les Sirènes chantaient au-dessus des mers pour attirer les navigateurs et les faire périr. Certains ont toutefois réussi à leur échapper. Ainsi Ulysse réussit à passer sans dommage en suivant les conseils de la magicienne Circé : il se fit attacher au grand mât de son navire pour pouvoir écouter le chant des sirènes tandis que ses compagnons ramaient les oreilles bouchées par la cire. Orphée triompha de ces créatures maléfiques en étouffant leurs chantsensorcelants du son de sa lyre. On raconte aussi que les Sirènes auraient un jour défié les Muses au chant. Victorieuses les Muses exigèrent une couronne faite des plumes des Sirènes ce qui les priva du don de voler.

(Is This the Way to) Amarillo was first recorded in 1971 by Tony Christie and was a great hit throughout Europe. In 2005 the re-release of the original Tony Christie version promoted by the comedian Peter Kaye was Britain’s best-selling single. The catchy melody of the chorus is also widely sung by sports fans and in 2006 it was played at the Football World Cup Final in Berlin. Stefan Schwalgin’s expert arrangement will certainly spice up any concert.

Sir Eu was commissioned by the regional music authority of Upper Austria and the brass band SoundINNBrass. The composition was meant to be very virtuoso and was written for the euphonium player Steven Mead who premièred it and has played it regularly worldwide. The title Sir Eu alludes to the master of the euphonium himself and also to the concept of Europe. From jazz through romanticism to folkloristic elements - this work offers everything that the musical heart could wish for!
