I - Pos/Ch Composer's note Esperanza is named after Camp Esperanza (Camp Hope) the location of the mission to rescue the thirty-three miners trappedunderground for seventy days in 2010 at the San Jose Mine in Chile a rescue that was televised live and was one of the most moving and inspiring things I have ever seen. By the most extraordinary coincidence I had already done a good deal of sketching for this Organ piece before this all happened and had determined on a 'darkness-to-light' kind of piece - so the coincidence as well as my feelings of elation were both too strong to ignore. The piece persues a course from a fairly knotty slow beginning (heralded by a few chords that recur at the very end) full of rising themes (another coincidence - the material had already been sketched before the miners were trapped underground) and reaching a loud climax the quick toccata-like second section bursting vigourously out of the tension which is created at the beginning of the work.

Elgar 's oratorio The Apostles was the biggest endeavour of his creative life. Elgar used the Bible as the source for his libretto taking words and phrases combining separate stories and superimposed different actions one upon another until the psychological emphasis of the libretto reflected its composer as faithfully as the music it was to serve. The Elgar Complete Edition brings together for the first time all of the composer's surviving music from printed and manuscript sources.

Lotus Land was undoubtedly the work for which Scott is best known. Written in 1905 Lotus Land achieved great popularity and was arranged for a vast array of instruments. It is a dreamy impressionistic piece and extremely innovative for its era. Cyril Scott was a British composer active from the very late 19th century and through the 20th whose work could be termed late Romantic with elements of impressionism with free use of exotic harmonies. Scott was an extremely prolific composer who left more than four hundred works ranging from symphonies operas and concertos to many works for smaller ensembles solo instruments and short songs.Virtuoso Violinist Fritz Kreislerwas the premier Violinist of his day and some believe the greatest Violinist of all time. In addition to his original compositions Kreisler often transcribed or arranged the work of other composers.
