Music When Soft Voices Die is a major poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley written in 1821 and first published in Posthumous Poems of Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1824 in London. The poem is one of the most anthologised influential and well-known of Shelley's works. Many composers and musicians have set the poem to music with vocal accompaniment.The excellent version for SATB Chorus with Piano accompaniment composed by Geoffrey Bush is now available as part of the Elkin Choral Series. Geoffrey Bush was a British composer organist and scholar of 20th-centuryEnglish music. Cyril Scott was an English composer writer and poet. He was essentially a late romantic composer whose style was at the same time strongly influenced by impressionism. His harmony was notably exotic. Scott wrote around four hundred works which include two mature symphonies three operas three Piano concertos concertos for Violin Cello Oboe and Harpsichord several overtures four oratorios as well as a mass of chamber music. Composed in 1918 for solo Piano and notated ‘Andante’ Twilight-Tide is a perfect addition to any pianist’s repertoire who is looking for a less-knownminiature to perform at recitals!

Souvenir De Paganini (B. 37) was written in 1829 shortly after the phenomenal violinist Niccolo Paganini had amazed the Warsaw Musical world with a series of concerts. It is a set of Variations in A major on the theme Carnival of Venice (Paganini Op. 10) however it never erupts in showy virtuosity instead retaining a delicate simplicity that is perhaps even harder to master. Frédéric Chopin (1710-1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist whose compositional career was spent mostly in Paris. He only wrote music for the Piano and is best known today for his 12 Etudes and 24 Preludes a key part of anypianist’s repertoire.

Danse Negre is a lively little piece with a performance time of approximately 2 minutes. Composed in 1908 it was originally scored for solo Piano but it has been arranged here for Piano Duet by Esther Fisher . It is the perfect piece for any pair of pianists looking for their first duet to perform. Cyril Scott (1879-1970) was a British composer pianist and poet. His most popular works which he is largely remembered by today were written in the years preceding the Second World War however he continued to compose prolifically in the face of indifference from the outside world right up until his death at the age of 91. His musicis predominantly in the Romantic style and serves as a tasteful reminder of a bygone age.

Roger Quilter (1877-1953) was a British composer best known for writing many gentle and beautiful songs. Along with Henry Balfour Gardiner and Percy Grainger he was a member of the Frankfurt Group a group of friends who studied composition together at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt. Three Pastoral Songs (Op.22) is a collection of three songs based on countryside scenes: I will go with my father a-ploughing - Cherry valley - I wish and I wish . The traditional Welsh melody Deck The Hall was arranged for SSA Female Voice Choir by David Cox with a Piano reduction for rehearsal purposes. It is dedicated to Sheila Mossman and the Orpington Junior Singers: a highly regarded girls choir which appeared at the BBC Proms and gave several other high-profile performances in the 1950s 60s and 70s. David Vassall Cox (1916-1997) was a British composer pianist and music critic. He is best known for his choral and vocal works but also spent many years working for the BBC in various roles.
