Sinfonia Hungarica is a three-movement symphony that depicts the history of Hungary. All three movements were inspired by historical key figures wars and other important events from this country. This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.ATTILA King of the Huns often named “The scourge of God ” is the central figure of the first movement mainly characterized by fear threat aggression and cruelty. Attila’s brother Buda however has a more heroic theme while his beloved wife Rika has a lyrical melody. The exciting ending of this opening movement illustrates the dreaded speed of Attila’s troops: they pursued their victims and killed them all!

Sonata from 'die Bänkelsängerlieder'-A cantastoria or Bänkelsänger – German for busker – was a travelling musician who made music in streets and squares together with his colleagues. Die Bänkelsängerlieder (buskers songs) originally stem from the seventeenth century. Robert van Beringen who is known for his attractive arrangements of classical melodies created a colourful transcription for wind band based on this characteristic music.

Solo for Alto and Soprano Saxophone- Saxophone Concertino is one of a series of solo concerti by Japanese composer Satoshi Yagisawa. In this piece the solo saxophonist's voice does not separate from the concert band but rather develops musically and gently in combination with it. This work enables the soloist to showcase his ability with variety and grace.

City of Roses-Jan Van der Roost wrote this festive overture for the Yokohama Art Festival. The theme is an obvious reflection of the vibrant dynamic city of Yokohama. The chorale-like moments in this energetic and colourful composition refl ect the stately beautyof the symbol of the city: the rose.

The main role in this attractive march is played by the harmonic elements of minor and major. These ingredients are supported by a solid bass passage various dynamic contrasts and a lovely cantabile trio theme. Pandora appears in Greek mythology – the first woman created by the gods and sent to earth as an evil addition to the human race. ‘Pan’ means ‘all’ and ‘dora’ means ‘gifted’. Pandora’s Box must by no means be opened. The various stories surrounding this box inspired Yagisawa to write this dramatic piece an addition to his series of pieces based on Greek mythology such as Perseus.
