Prelude and Chorale is a scintillating dynamic opening piece based on the brilliant finale from the earlier concert work Aureus . The latter work is built around a magnificent hymn—which also forms the common thread running through this overture.As the title suggests the work begins with a modern ‘prelude’: a prologue to the actual hymn. The beginning of the hymn especially serves as the source of the thematic material. The hymn melody itself is immediately embellished by a counter-melody and supported by a rhythm section of bass and drums. This all leads to an energetic passage in which the proverbial stops are pulled out once more.

The Concertino op. 12 by the German violinist composer and violin educator Ferdinand Küchler (1867-1937) is a three-movement work that is ideal for the development of playing in first and third position. The first movement is both powerful and playful in character and its themes that follow on from each other rapidly producing a concise sonata form. The second movement has been written in a three-part song form (A-B-A). The A section has a cantabile atmosphere whereas section B is more dramatic. The third movement is a rondo (with a refrain and episodes). The refrain is joyful in spirit and the episodes present variation.

The Gospel Mass -a mass for mixed choir combo and concert band-is based on the gospel music that has spread throughout the world since its creation in America. The movements of the mass ordinary as we know it have now been composed in various pop styles that have their origin in the gospel music. We hear then not only the classic American gospel style (including the characteristic clapping and swingrhythms) but also freer gospel styles that have developed over the course of time. As far as we know The Gospel Mass is the only true gospel mass. Choral parts available separately.

Based on Die Forelle Op. 32 by Franz Schubert-The Austrian composer Franz Schubert wrote his famous song The Trout (D550) in 1817. This song reappeared as the basis of a set of variations for the fourth movement of the renowned Trout Quintet so-named as a reference to the title of the song. Robert van Beringen used the lively theme for The Trout Fantasy which he has written for a five-part brass ensemble.The instrumentation means that this piece can be performed in various combinations: trumpet 1 and 2 in B flat horn in F (or horn in E flat) trombone (or euphonium) and tuba (or trombone euphonium tuba in E flat).

Pandora appears in Greek mythology – the first woman created by the gods and sent to earth as an evil addition to the human race. ‘Pan’ means ‘all’ and ‘dora’ means ‘gifted’. Pandora’s Box must by no means be opened. The various stories surrounding this box inspired Yagisawa to write this dramatic piece an addition to his series of pieces based on Greek mythology such as Perseus.
